Everybody was worried searching for their dates. Why dates you may ask? Well the infamous Yule Ball was being hosted of course! And so everyone was searching for dates.

Yeah you were asked out, i mean cmon, you have quite a reputation for your looks. But you had your eyes set on one person. A triwizard champion, Cedric Diggory.

He was beautiful, he truly was. Yet there was someone who was just as gorgeous, heck, they fit together so perfectly.

The calm, beautiful, gracefully composed girl who was smart and the beautiful, funny and popular guy who were both loved and adored by everyone.

Sure you were beautiful and loved aswell, but not as much as Cho.

You were merely just studying for the upcoming exam, because as much as the tournament excited everyone, studies still existed.

“So, who ya asking out for the yule ball?” Your friend Hannah asked.

“Im unsure.. Probably might just stay in the dormitory and fake being sick.” You replied.

“Oh cmon, many guys asked you out! There has to be someone! What about Cedric? The both of you would be perfect.”

“Isn’t he going with Cho?”

“Thats just a rumour, rumours arent true ya know?”

“I’m not asking him either way. Like I said i’ll probably just pretend to be sick.”

“You’re no fun!” The blondette huffed.

“Tough luck” you replied measly.

As the day of your exam arrived, you went to your classroom, before a certain golden boy came up to you.

“Hey” he greeted.

“Hi Cedric, anything you need?” You replied.

“Well, I wanted to ask if you had a partner for the yule ball.”

“Why? You wanna ask me out?” You teased causing his face to turn red.

“Well, i didn’t say that, i’m just merely interested.”

“To answer your question, no I don’t.”

“Thats a shocker, i would’ve thought you had a date by now”

“Rejected the people who asked. What about you?”

“I’m unsure yet.. There’s this girl I want to ask but I’m unsure how to tell her.”

“That’s cute, is it Cho?”

“Where’d you hear that from” he froze.

Wait was he actually gonna ask out Cho?

“Ah, just rumours.”

“No, no.. There’s this other girl”

“Alright then, hey Cedric, let’s talk later, yeah? I dont wanna miss this exam.” You said trying to cut the conversation shorter and heading away.

“Wait- Y/n” he called out your name trying to get you to stop moving further. You pretended not to hear him.

“Dang it…”

“Did it work?” A certain Ravenclaw asked walking up to Cedric.

“No.. she walked away before even letting me ask her.” He sighed.

“That’s a shame..”

“Any luck with Harry?”

“Not yet..”

You had finished your exam, ran right to your dorm and flopped onto the bed. Your friend soon after joining.

“Y/n, don’t freak out but… i saw Cho and Cedric talking..”

“God. Smart and gorgeous Cho. She always gets what she wants doesnt she. Isnt Potter also chasing after her? Why cant she just run to ‘the chosen one’ and leave Cedric alone”

“Well mind you Harry is mid controversy due to the whole Tournament issue.”

“Well yeah, but at the end of the day he always saves the whole of Hogwarts, doesn’t he? First year, second year, even third! He’s met the dark lord more than we have.”

“Yeah.. that’s also true…”

“I’m so irritated. I wish i was as gorgeous as she was.” You mumbled.

“Don’t say that. Just because a Lotus blooms brightly, doesnt mean an Amaryllis, which shines just as brightly, doesnt either.”

“I love you Hannah.” You said getting up from your bed and embracing her.

“I love you too, Y/n.”

The day of the ball kept nearing and each time Cedric tried to approach you, you kept avoiding him. And each time you did, Cho appeared.

God, stupid Cho! She’s so irritating with her long, silky flowy dark hair, her pale skin shining as brightly as the moon and her gorgeous eyes which resemble a midnight sky. Her and Cedric just fit perfectly.

The Golden Boy representing the Sun, the gorgeous girl representing the Moon. You were not even a star compared to her. She was the epitome of perfection.

You couldn’t handle it. Everything she did irritated you!

Until

One day you were cornered by Cedric himself in astronomy class when everyone else had already left, as it was very dark and others wanted to head to bed.

“Have I done anything wrong? Or why is it that you’re avoiding me?”

“Why are you speaking to me? I don’t think Cho would like that.” You replied avoiding his gaze.

“I dont like Cho! And Cho doesn’t like me either, she’s with Potter. Now can you stop avoiding me and please just look at me.” He begged staring at you with those golden eyes that had you falling for him.

“But i thought you were with her..”

“Well you thought wrong. I don’t want her, i want you! And im sick and tired of acting like i dont, when it’s you! I want you and you only to go the Yule Ball with me.”

“But she kept coming up to you and i thought that-“

“She came up to me because she was helping me get with you. I promised to help her with Potter, she promised to help me with you. And you rejected every other guy, I didnt think you’d accept me of all people. Especially when you said you were reconsidering going to the ball.”

“I.. I don’t know what to say..” you stammered.

“Just answer me one thing and one thing only. Will you please give me the honour of being able to go to the Yule Ball with you?”

“Yes.. Yes, Cedric, I would absolutely love that..” you said looking at him, the moonlight and the stars shining upon the two of you.
