* ♡ cold wasn't the word letha would use to describe riley. it wasn't the word anyone would choose, as far as she knew ; but as far as she was from cold, there was something about the other girl that kept the word warm from being an appropriate descriptor as well. there may have been warmth within her, but it was far away, tucked in a place you could sense but never truly feel. knowing riley, & being used to this faraway warmth, being met with such a seemingly heartfelt statement out of the blue caused letha to pause, not wanting to scare the other away with her own brand of overly saccharine sentiments. instead, she tried to land somewhere in the middle, nonchalance paired with what felt like a safe amount of physical affection. ❛ 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘰. ❜ letha would say, smiling as she reached forward to link pinkies.

the idea was only a joke, but the more she thought about it, the more letha began to think that maybe, there was the slightest possibility, that riley would actually look good with such a retro hairstyle ; everything else about the other was so devastatingly modern, a little throwback moment wouldn't hurt.

( * ♡ ) the mother of all BUT DID I ASK moments, & there letha was, right in the middle of it - it was an honor to live through history, honestly. whether riley's words had been purely informational OR something more along the lines of instructional, letha didn't know ; it was always hard to tell with riley where jokes ended and the slightly vulgar truth began - either way, letha felt slightly, majorly, in over her head. ❝ riley! had i known that would be the tone of the night i wouldn't have agreed to this whole matching dresses thing. i'm not choosing a gender, i don't care who does or doesn't want to f u c k - and for tonight you don't either. now get over here and dance with me. as your date, i demand it. ❞
