The fandom event days. I wish I could take part in more of them, but I like to see them

While I'm not quite invested enough in either character to ship it myself, I do think that DesRan have a funny dynamic and all the fanwork I see for them really gets what makes them so funny

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I generally respond to comments. Almost always, unless I really canāt think of anything to say in reply, which is pretty rare. Comments make me so happy and I just want to let people who do comment know that I appreciate them.
Whatās the fic youāve written with the angstiest ending?
I think the angstiest fic I wrote was a Free! fic called āMoves Across the Landā - the premise of which is that Makoto died as a young adult of an illness and each chapter is a different person in his life receiving a letter that he wrote for them before he died. But that one had an optimistic ending, with Haru and Kisumi unexpectedly finding a newly strengthened friendship in sharing the grief of Makotoās death.
So I guess technically the angstiest ending I wrote was a short Archie/Maxie oneshot where Maxie gets killed by Kyogre lol
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, but I ended up agreeing with it! Waaay back (probably more that 10 years ago at this point), I wrote a bunch of Layton/Rosetta oneshots that I now donāt stand by. One of them, in my naivety, I went too far with and breached uncomfortable territory. I got a couple of comments about how uncomfortable it was, so I ended up deleting that particular fic and felt better after it was gone.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I am a fledgling at writing smut, which is probably obvious to anyone whoās read my smut haha. When I do write it, I prefer to focus on the dialogue between the characters - I like a banterous smut scene. Also, theyāre usually pretty tame. I like writing about handjobs, blowjobs and wanking the most when I do write smut.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not that I know of, but that would be awesome! A few years ago, a kind person messaged me about potentially translating my Layton ficĀ āGrasping Liquidā into French, but I donāt think they went through with it in the end. Though honestly, the dialogue and slang in that fic is pretty much illegible in English, so I reckon itād be a tough fic to translate.

Yes, the aforementionedĀ āBarrel of Monkeysā that I co-wrote with @amberrgalaxy It was a lot of fun and I love it :D
Whatās your all time favorite ship?
Hmm... I donāt think I have a single all time favourite. I jump through a lot of OTPs and they always mean a lot to me, but it wouldnāt seem fair to pick out a single one thatās always shined brighter than the others, because thatās not really how my hyperfixations work. But my current favourite ships are Momus/Heracles (to be narcissistic) and TheseZag from Hades Game. While my oldest ship that Iām still invested in is Yami/Seto from Yu-Gi-Oh DM.
Whatās a WIP that you want to finish but donāt think you ever will?
Shockingly, I donāt have any right now. A few years ago (I think 2018?), I made a point of going back and finishing ALL my old WIPs that Iād left hanging but intended to finish, even for fandoms I didnāt plan on going back to. So that freed my conscience of them and felt pretty good.
At the moment, my only WIP isĀ āif found please return to the underworldā - an AU where Zagreus does make it to Olympus, so Hades sends Theseus, Asterius and Meg to try to get him back. But Iāve only just started writing that one, so I do hope to stick with it until itās finished.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. Definitely dialogue. Iām told that I capture the canon voices of characters pretty well and thatās always what Iām trying the hardest to get right, so it means a lot to me.
I also feel like Iām good at keeping a fic flowing, without being bogged down by too much detail. But the downside of that is that I often sacrifice description, so I still hope to find the balance. Since Hades Game has more flowery prose than Iām used to, I think getting into that series actually helped me with this.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I do not think I am experienced enough to be able to pull this off well and would worry too much about making mistakes.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
It was Pokemon, but those fics arenāt online anymore. The oldest fics you can still find buried somewhere with my name attached to them are Sonic fics.
Whatās your favorite fic youāve ever written?
āthe prince with specific tastes; the king with specific regretsā - Sometimes I look back at that fic and wonder if I actually wrote it, since I avoided falling into all of my usual traps: I researched it properly and frequently, I kept the focus on the five main characters instead of getting distracted by introducing a million other character like I usually do, I plotted the fucker out from start to finish instead of winging it, and I worked the flashbacks into it in a way that balanced the present-day out instead of distracting from it. Also, I got the whole thing written in about two months, instead of staling for years. ...Whatever possessed me when I wrote that fic, please come back. (It was the first time Iād had two weeks off together in about three years, so I think that had a lot to do with it)
OH YEAH and that same kinda villain OC who I recycle in every fandom Iām in actually landed this time. It brought me so much joy to see how much people loved to hate Momus. Those two months when I was posting that fic are easily a highlight of my life. :D

puzzlette! what is her deal? where did she come from? granny riddleton is a robot, so did she, like, adopt puzzlette somewhere down the line? why does puzzlette kill bees? why is puzzlette a murderer? is she the layton version of a persona velvet room attendant? weāll never know! (unless they answer any of these questions in lmj i guess lol)

Given their close friendship, there was something ironic about the fact that Hershel Layton was literally the only member of the old Stansbury Gang who hadnāt turned out to be the Masked Gentleman.
Henry, Angela, even Dalston - they had all either worn the mask or else orchestrated it to some degree; everyone was a criminal.

3. Favourite AU?
For PL, I likeĀ āAurora doesnāt dieā AUs, because that is all I am willing to accept and shouldāve been the canon ending anyway.Ā āLetās teach this golem she has life, only to kill herā is a shitty ending to any story.
For Hades Game, I have this incredibly personal au that Iāve been callingĀ āthe metrocente auā, which is a modern au set in a shopping centre near to where I grew up. The premise is that Hades owns the shopping centre and has banned his son, Zagreus, who keeps doing parkour on the art installations and trying to find the fabled metroland (a small themepark which no longer exists). So Zagreus is trying to breakĀ inĀ this time instead of break out. Asterius has been lost in the metrocentre his entire life, him and Zagreus actually team up in this au. Theseus is a security guard tasked with throwing Zagreus out. Hypnos works the desk at the entrance. Persephone is in metroland, which still exists, just in a different dimension. Theseusās ex-wife, Ariadne, is a frequent shopper and spends her days at Argos, when Theseus isnāt divorcing her outside of Pizza Hut for the tenth time. Iām still deciding on the roles for everyone else.

Amber would actually be better at answering this than me haha. The easiest one is that Crow is cockney. Socket is also kind of cockney, but if Iād done it better, then heād have more of an Essex twang. Badger is, like, general northwest, but he comes from near Manchester if you want to narrow it down. Also, Scraps is from Durham, but for some reason I never gave him an accent, even though itās the closest to where I live, so I mightāve actually been able to pull that one off. Louis is a scouser, plain and simple.
32. Most popular work/series?
This answer always surprises me, but my most viewed fic is still my Free! SouMako zombie auĀ āTrail Mixā, by a large margin. I keep thinking that one SenGen smut fic I wrote for Dr. Stone will top it, but nope, Trail Mix is still winning by a mile.

Iām trying to think of something that wasnāt already mentioned in Grasping Liquid haha. Oh yeah, to keep his mum happy, Crow is part of the Misthallery Boys Choir along with Charlie and those other kids from North Ely. Crow cannot sing. Crow believes he can sing very well.
ā® - friendship headcanon
I mean, again this is the basis of GL, but while Crow would absolutely die for his friends, he struggles to accept change in their circumstances down to a deep-rooted fear of being left by them. As he gets older, he comes to terms with the lack of control he has over everyone elseās lives, stops being such a puppet-master and finds pride in what his friends are doing, even if theyāre far away from him, as well as just develops a more healthy outlook towards friendship in general.
Iām sorry Iāve already asked but may I propose another: Emmy/Janice. I know there are 0 interactions between them but Iām honestly surprised for how underrated these two are. Janice may have to wait a little while to mourn for Melina (RIP eternal girlfriend) but I can just imagine her turning up to Laytonās office one day and thereās Emmy!
Please do ask as many times as you want! :D I am a coiled spring, waiting to produce walls of text the moment anyone sets anything in my ask.
But okay, my brutally honest opinion is that... Iām just not into any ships involving Emmy these days. I know I used to be a big Emmy/Grosky shipper in the beginning, but PL5 and PL6 killed that ship dead and I just never really got invested in anything else. Itās not that I even hc Emmy as aro or feel like she wouldnāt want to be in a relationship for any other reason, I just havenāt found anything Iām all that into.
Having said that, I can definitely see what the appeal would be with Emmy/Janice. Because Janice is the biggest lesbian in the PL games and I want nice things for her. I love Janice/Melina, but Melina has passed on and wanted Janice to live her best life, so I would like Janice to find love again. I think my first choice for that would be Naiya, because theyāre both singers and Iām simple.
So I guess I donāt really ship this one, but I do think itās cute and respect it and hope you can find the adorable content you deserve for such a sweet ship.
