You're giving me a challenge!!

One thing I do like about Bill Hawks is the angst potential for fics with Claire and Dimitri. I enjoy thinking of them as a close-knit scientist team that probably all thought of each other as friends, or at least trusted colleagues. When Claire appears in the future and finds Dimitri again, I imagine she would be very shocked and horrified to learn that not only did Bill run away from taking responsibility for the accident, but he actively profited off of it. On Dimitri's side, not only did he lose Claire, his crush and friend, but he lost his other friend Bill as well. Losing both the people he spent the most time with would only drive him into deeper despair and obsession.

Uhh... another thing I like about Bill Hawks are the memes. There are so many really funny old memes about him. I remember one of the scene where he begins to fly out of the laytonmobile and Claire pulls him back in, but edited to make him keep flying out. It always makes me laugh.

I also like Bill's realism. He does horrible things, but to me, it's a reflection of corruption and greed that can be seen in real life. His presence is part of what makes Unwound/Lost Future hit so hard to me. He's hurt so many people, and yet nobody can do a thing about it because of his power. Even though Clive's reaction was awful and hurt many others as well, you can understand his desperation when, as a reporter, he saw countless examples of the government hurting others systemically, and eventually went mad because he felt he had no other choice but to destroy that government.

I probably have a few different characters who collect different things but the first one who comes to mind is Clip!! He collects swords and other mystical and magical weapons

His style of speech is very difficult to get down. I think I've gotten it now, but every time I write him I start grumbling about having to do it.

I love his sense of honor and his kindness and the fact that ultimately he wants to do what's right, even if he doesn't always succeed.

oh this is really hard. I really respect how tightly Ghost Trick is written, and it's hard to pull apart at the structure without things falling apart. most of these are post-timeline reboot, I think.

more references to dynamic with Memry (this would have helped if Memry died, I think, though there really isn't space for that)

I know this is a limitation of only having so much space but it would have been cool if his coat was different in the new timeline due to there being not as much of a need for his perfectionism like there is in the old timeline

honestly sometimes I just think about that one scene where they're all just talking in the Ghost World and then suddenly the Justice Minister pipes up IRL and I still feel really bad for Cabanela here though I know it's a little early for him to be let in on the ghost circle information LMAO

7) five people that character never fell in love with

Lynne. He's probably known Lynne since she was a teenager, with her ambitions, and he would definitely be a creep if he was.

Pigeon Man. Co-conspirators, certainly, but not lovers.

I'm not a huge Yomicabs person. Like I get why people like it and I certainly can't judge people who do on the basis that I've shipped worse but idk. maybe this is also in some part pushback against the idea of shoving Sissel (human) aside too -- even tho we don't know anything about her beyond the fact that she exists doesn't mean we have to exacerbate the worst parts of canon

but, like, that doesn't mean Cabanela can't fall in love with him. it just means that I think it wouldn't be requited.

Rindge. I don't think anyone ships this but I'm running low on characters and their relationship is purely professional imo.

ok um ngl this ask got me into a deep dive and then I realized I never got around to translating nakamura's early pandemmy tweets about rhythm thief so actually. I will do that. next week (pray for me that I will actually do it)

to actually answer ur question YES................. a lot............... i would like to go more in depth when I actually get around to translating the magazine articles properly (I keep saying this to myself and its been like 8 years) but!

and before his current phantom r fit came to be, ralph had more expressive and varied expressions!! a bit more childish hehe!! he was probably conceptualized to be younger at first, but current ralph is 18!

Lucille was by his side now, placing a hand on his arm, “how about you go sit down and I’ll finish the tea, then you can tell me what’s wrong?”

“That was entirely uncalled for, Blackguard!”

“We're in a fight, Theseus. What do you expect me to do except, well, fight you? I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings while I was punching you during our pre-arranged fight that you personally agreed to. Please do accept my sincerest apologies.”

The sarcasm is dripping from Zagreus's voice, but even so, he doesn't remove himself from where he's perched on top of Theseus, staring down at him with a considerable degree of smugness. To separated Theseus from his blasted spear is a feat enough in itself and Zagreus isn't going to let this go to waste.

Yet, as is often the case, Theseus appeals to Asterius, who has sensibly been hanging back in this particular instance. Usually, Asterius would swiftly dispatch Zagreus with his axe, but sometimes (especially lately), Asterius has picked up on the Prince of the Underworld and the King of Athens getting in some particular moods with each other that they most likely need space for. This is one of those times.

“Asterius, tell the daemon that we do not stand for such affection in the arena!”

“Affection!” Zagreus chokes, “Okay, now I'm lost. What are you actually talking about?”

Theseus pouts up at him, his bronze face flushed with indignation; “I stuttered not with my words! When you pounced on me, there was an edge to your touch of affectionate nature and you cannot deny it!”

“Oh, this is too rich,” Zagreus chuckles. If he hadn't intended it that way before, then Zagreus is certainly leaning on Theseus with intent now, pressing down against his crotch as he moves closer to his face; “If you want a hug, king, then all you need to do is ask.”

“I did not ask! Yet you provided all the same!”

“Literally just fighting you, but okay.”

“Do those unsightly claws of yours turn your fiendish brain into that of a feline as well? I know the intent of a tackle when it is aimed at my good self!”

At this, Zagreus does a half-turn to look back at Asterius, while still straddling Theseus's chest.

“Hey, bull-man, I hate to ask you to be the judge in this, but what's your take?”

Theseus snorts; “Asterius is a man of great sense! He will certainly side with me!”

As both of them regard him intensely, Asterius shoulders his axe. He is as honourable as they come and, thus, can judge this fairly.

“I do not wish to insult you, king, but for the most part, it is as the short one says: he did not intend to embrace you.” But, before Zagreus can celebrate his victory, Asterius adds, “Yet this does not change the affection of his gesture. It looked to me as if, when he tackled you to the ground, it was like an embrace. Whether he intended it that way or not.”

Theseus grins smugly.

“Hah! Asterius agrees with me! You did hug me, blackguard! Your previously hidden desires for my good self have bubbled up to the surface!”

Zagreus looks from Asterius to Theseus, not sure how to react to this. Asterius also notes that, by this point, Theseus could've easily pushed Zagreus off him and yet has chosen not to.

“I mean, I'd be game if you were, but you're surprisingly happy to prove that I'm apparently hiding this from you, Theseus,” Zagreus points out, “Are you sure that you're not the one with hidden desires here?”

To this, Theseus makes a strangled noise. For once, it seems as if the king is speechless.

...Which only lasts about five seconds.

“Asterius! The daemon insults me! ...A-asterius, where are you going?”
