The Parker kitchen exists in a spacetime geometry different from the one the rest of the universe exists in

The entrance to the Parker kitchen bends light

The creators took some artistic license with which parts of the kitchen can be seen from which angles for the sake of better shot composition

The way Tim Minear likes to wax poetic about how he's such a genius and actually we're going to see all the fallout and emotional resonance, and then they "show" that emotional resonance by giving a character one single fucking line and showing zero development of that supposed storyline is fucking exhausting.
