My mum keeps trying to talk to me about Game of Thrones, sharing theories and ideas about charcterisation and all that, and like... I’ve been v clear that I’m not interested anymore and don’t think it’s very well written at all? So it’s kind of awkward... like there are only so many ways to say ‘yeah that’s the way the character should be, but the writing has been so inconsistent that I don’t really know what they’re actually going for or what’s going to happen’.
Like as a casual viewer she clearly still enjoys it and good for her and all, I never wanna begrudge ppl that, but. I really, genuinely do not understand why people are still claiming that the writing is good, and I’m not going to pretend to come up with all these in-depth analyses of a show where 90% of the time my opinion on stuff is honestly ‘I don’t think they DID have any complicated themes or characterisation in mind, they’re just doing whatever they feel like.’
