lana is #problematique herself, but she’s never pretended to be anything else. much less tried to actually capitalize on being an activist. and everyone has their own boundaries, but for me unless someone has gone out of their way to use their influence for evil- see rowling, kanye- i can listen to artists whose politics i don’t agree with.
anyway- that lana caption is hilarious. just making it SUPER SUPER clear she was occupied the day before the 4th of july when certain events were happening lol.
i can see the argument for that and she may be good at bringing certain perspectives to her work - her mental health struggles seem very credible and sincere - while also failing to acknowledge her privilege in key ways and also platforming a shitty megachurch pastor. i just haven't been able to feel the same about her for a long time. but as you said, she's pretty upfront with her messiness and never said she was any kind of activist outside of her advocacy for 'feminine fragility' whatever that means LOL. unstanning taylor was far easier for me...
lmao exactly - on July 3 I woke up, fully aware that I had no important commitments in New York City, and then I went about my day with zero black tie events of any kind, especially no weddings...
