theres something so fucking raw about this scene. the sudden change if topic. the way yami chooses not to question it. so much left in the air between them. and then yugi just turns over. doesn't bother to readjust the blanket (which is bunching up under him btw.if you look it gets slightly pulled up as he moves), doesn't bother trying to cover his shoulders on a blimp that must be cold as fuck, doesn't bother to give himself any more comfort. why? because he doesn't think he deserves it after thinking so selfishly? because the cold provides an inkling of distraction from the pain in his heart? because he can't bring himself to find the energy to? and then the piano note hollows out, leaving the memory of a note as two lonely keys are gently pressed separately as he cries. he cries looking away from yami, towards the wall where he can't be seen. is it because he's ashamed to feel this way? or that he doesn't want to confuse his partner further... because right now he's his only constant source of support and strength? he cries in silence, a singular tear that's escaped out of the many he's probably holding in. he doesn't even bother to wipe it, only adding to his own discomfort. the second he's not putting on a smile for yami, he's crying for yami, with a sniffle just small enough that he can believe he wasn't heard. but of course, yami heard, because when does he not hear his aibou call to him?
but this time, there's nothing he can say. yugi is crying and there's nothing he can say. and you know the reason yugi cried the previous two times?
because of him
