Chapter 24: The wonderful adventures of the Wild Fox and the Hunting Hound

What happens when Han, Qi’ra and Dey’ia spent a week at the seaside.

“I don’t think I can forgive you. You hurt me.’’

“It’s okay, I don’t want you to forgive me.’’ the chatenne shrugged, toying with a loose wave of her hair. “I know that what I said is right, even if you don’t want to accept that just yet. And forgiveness is shit.’’ Han arched one of his thin little eyebrows, truly shocked by his friend’s words. “Forgiveness won’t heal a bruised knee or put money in someone’s pocket. So what’s the point of saying ‘I forgive you’ just to make a person feel better about themselves?”

“To show that you care about the person’s feelings. That you believe they can do better, that they can be better.’’ the boy replied. Qi’ra puffed, taking a spoonful of ice cream.

“You don’t actually believe that. You know I can’t do better. So what’s the point?’’

Han frowned, probably even more hurt than he had been a month ago, when he and Qi’ra had fought and he had pushed her down the stairs. There was still a small scar in the corner of her mouth as a memory from the incident, along with her ugly, older twin sister cutting across her upper lip. A reminder of Fillis’ actions back from so many months ago that still haunted them both from time to time.

“Why are you starring at me like that?” Qi’ra inquired confused.
