on this fine afternoon i am thinking about how simon is the one holding the baby when burgess takes him in heart of gold and looks very nervous upon arrival. i think simon would quite obviously not want/be resistant to giving the baby this man he knows is dangerous and trying to tear away from his mother buuut the other side has guns, so, makes sense. i will say: we don’t see the implied scene where burgess actually gets the baby and i’m so curious about what happened. i’m sure burgess could have easily pointed his gun at simon and i’m sure that would be nerve racking buuut knowing mr. regularly offers to die in river’s place i feel like he’d still be reticent. but if burgess pointed his gun at petaline? oh boy do i think simon would have a rough time. bc he has two patients he is trying take care of and both are in danger. aaaa.
