(Lego Monkie Kid) Sun Wukong x Reader

            The beep of the alarm blared through the room and startled you from a comfortable sleep. Your hand fumbled blindly over the nightstand until you silenced it with a weary sigh. The dim light of dawn was just starting to glow through the window when you squinted your eyes open. Yawning and stretching, you moved to sit up but the arms around your waist refused to let go.

            “Wukong…”

            The monkey grumbled and nuzzled the back of your neck. “It’s too early, Peaches. Go back to sleep.”

            “I can’t,” you sighed sadly. “I have to go into work early to help with a project.”

            “Too bad.” In a quick move, you suddenly were hauled back into the nest of pillows and blankets. No matter how much you squirmed or flailed, you couldn’t escape the monkey’s clinging limbs. When you managed to prop yourself up on his chest, he just continued to snuggle you with a satisfied purr. “You should call into work. Or, better yet, just quit. Then we can stay in bed as long as we want.”

            As warm, cozy, and tempting as his offer was, you steeled your resolved and shoved the blankets aside to the chilly morning air. You chuckled when Wukong growled and hugged you closer in response.

            “I’ll only be gone a few hours.”

            “But my cuddles!” he protested with wide, pleading eyes. “Would you really abandon your loving monkey? All alone? In the cold hours of the morning? Just to be at a lame job?”

            You rolled your eyes and tried to sit up again but his hold held fast. “Well my ‘lame job’ happens to pay the bills, Mister Monkey King. And I like being able to afford things.”

            “I could buy you whatever you want, you know.” Wukong raised a brow and smirked, cheeky and charming. “You said it yourself, I am a king.”

            A thoughtful hum crossed your lips and he preened in triumph, oblivious to scheme forming in your head.

            “That’s very sweet of you, Wukong.”

            Whatever he planned to say next was quickly forgotten when you swooped down to drop a loving kiss on his nose. The flustered monkey squeaked, fur fluffing up and face turning red when you leaned over to whisper in his ear. “But I like earning my money.” You pressed a smooch to one furry cheek, “Besides,” then the other. “What kind of a mate would I be…” Wukong whined when your lips hovered over his only to pull away. “If I didn’t do my part to take care of my king?”

            His needy, pleading face was suddenly smacked by a fluffy pillow. The monkey screeched in surprised and his hands flew up to shove the weaponized bedding aside. It was all the distraction you needed to make your escape. By the time he had freed himself, you were already out of bed and trying, but failing, to smother your laughter from across the room.

            Wukong scowled. “No fair, Peaches,” he pouted, flopping back on the pillows dramatically. “Woe is the Monkey King, cruelly attacked then abandoned by his mate. How will I ever recover such a betrayal?”

            Rolling your eyes at his theatrics, you grabbed your work clothes and towel. “Well I’ll be in the shower if you ever recover enough to join me.”

            In a blur of fur, Wukong was up and out of bed, easily tossing you over his shoulder to carry you towards the bathroom.  “I’m sure I can be persuaded.”
