going to bed rn but a quick thought first
I couldn't find if I'd posted a screenshot of it anywhere before, but one of the thing i like about oldhammer is the size of the game - the core rulebook for 40k 5th recommends 500-1000pts for a casual evening game
as far as I'm aware for modern / 11th the absolute minimum is 1k, but the standard size for tourneys (so 3h games) is 2000
so already double the old average
and I remembered today that the munitorium manual had been released so I went to take a peek at that
at least comparing to the numbers I remember for (completely unupgraded) tyranid units from 5th, it's an average 30% cost reduction across the board
not counting that wargear easily increases the cost by at least half per model
so GW is pushing people to buy ~250% models now than they used to just to play, and those just happen to also be the highest average priced wargame plastic on the market
and yet somehow this is the most popular non-historical wargame??? if some company needs to be given money for models and rules can it be someone else please
