bloodstream songfic/edit idea
Currently losing my mind over bloodstream by Alyssa Grace as a Nam Seon-ho anthem. Okay maybe anthem is taking it too far but hear me out—
Maybe I was too young to fully understand That's why I never healed from it healthy, why I never trusted a man You gotta love the way you have, and I'll take that to my grave Soon you'll open up your eyes, and it'll all be gone one day And I'm sitting here convincing you to pick up the phone and call I am my father's daughter, but I'm nothing like him at all I hear him in the way I speak, and when I look in the mirror The anger's grown in me and shows, could it be any clearer? That I'm like him 'cause he made me the way I am When we're fighting, and all I need is somebody
The first verse apply to Seon-ho's canon self in my mind because it's literally him referring to how he was raised into a Nam; how he started adopting his father's traits and how it bled into his relationship with Hwi. Imo the chorus doesn't really fit for this interpretation but that's where verse 2 comes in:
You never laid your hands on me And that's something I'm grateful for But I should've known that you'd gone mad When I saw the way you punched your doors And I don't regret loving you 'cause I know that you needed it But the way you treated me made me feel like a little kid And something deep inside of me tells me that you're not better now And I'm sorry that I couldn't help, but I'm so glad I made it out And I'm crying on my mama's floor, why don't you want this anymore? And I'm craving you to change for me You're saying, "I hear you, and I love you, but my heart, it hurts for you And I just cannot give you what you need" Am I too much? Am I enough? 'Cause you said you wouldn't give up Now I'm numb on my knees, praying to God you talk to me Wondering what it takes for you to stay off my mind And far out of my bloodstream
For verse two, we're going into alternate universe territory. It refers to Seon-ho's relationship with Bang-won and how they deteriorate over time because of external circumstances. Then the chorus comes in and that's the lowest point where Seon-ho and Bang-won have a major disagreement. Sung-rok of course is by his side but Seon-ho's heart is just hurting for Hwi throughout it all. He can't give either of them what they want from him. And in the end, brokenly, he accepts when Nam Jeon approaches him again because he can't keep him out of his bloodstream.
"It's not your fault you were born out of wedlock to a lowborn mother"
