When Eli wakes up, she genuinely has no idea where the fuck she is at first. Her surroundings are unfamiliar. This definitely isn't her apartment back in Ottawa. The second thing she takes stock of is that her mouth is incredibly dry and that her head is pounding, which indicates to her that she's probably hungover. The third thing is that there is definitely someone's arm draped over her, which is what finally prompts her to sit up.
Oh. Oh Jesus christ. She remembers now. She shouldn't have been drinking, really, because she isn't old enough in the States to do so, but no one at the Kingfisher really cares. So she drank too much, and stumbled home with Eric fucking Bennett of all people. Not that she's complaining, but it really isn't good, is it? Isn't he married? Not that that matters to her, either, but she also doesn't want to try and dodge an angry spouse while hungover.
"Shit," she mutters, gently pushing his arm off and sighing as she slides out of bed, not wanting to wake him. The quicker she leaves, the better.
