eli wasn’t much of a drinker these days, and she had definitely never had champagne before, so this was.. new. nursing a hangover wasn’t exactly on her to-do list for the next day either. she just wanted to get through hosting this event at the gallery and go back to her usual, quiet, everyday life. “and i don’t suppose you’re an expert on your head disagreeing with your alcohol intake?”

eli felt a little less lonely as winter approached, the air chilling and the wind cooling, inching towards temperatures that comforted her and reminded her of home. on especially cold days she could close her eyes and almost pretend she was right back there, surrounded by her friends, the snow crunching in her ears. but then she opened her eyes and was reminded of the reality. she was never the most approachable person, she knew this, and her longing to be elsewhere made it all the more difficult for people to talk to her, when really, that’s what she needed; people to talk to. in a bold move, she seats herself on a bench next to someone she’s never spoken to before, her hands in her pockets, her gaze out on the water before them. “when do you think the first snowfall will be?”

eli wasn’t exactly used to cities and the like, not yet. she was doing her best to adjust to the new lifestyle (she could hardly live a ranger’s life anymore) but it was a process. the process didn’t exactly suit her since she tended to be impatient, and with impatience came her frustration and short temper. these ‘modern day maps’ were complete garbage, she couldn’t read them for the life of her, flipping it every which way, bringing it closer to and further from her face as if zooming it in and out like that would do anything to benefit her, but to no avail whatsoever. she lets out an aggravated woof, sighing and turning to the nearest person, her voice snappy and sharp. “do you know how to read these things? i’m at a loss.”
