afarit:
”still a good one.” the elder mumbles, fingertips halting when he sees the way allistair’s eyes look in broad daylight. there’s something raw about the daytime, and maybe that’s why alexei feels a little bit smaller, a little bit less perfect than he did the day before and yet; much more alive, much more worth it. tired lips lift in a series of gentle smiles as the younger brings him a plate, and he doesn’t have the heart to tell him he isn’t much of a breakfast person. in due time, alexei. provided he doesn’t run. “i don’t know if i can finish this all, honestly. i’ll try to, though. these eggs are sublime.“ he isn’t lying, either- allistair’s magic extends to nearly everything he does, it seems. he takes his time, movements slow; careful because he’s an idiot sometimes and the last thing he wanted to do was mess up the musician’s sheets. it doesn’t take long for him to feel full, and he softly slips the rest of the food onto allistair’s plate. content to watch the other finish up, the elder relaxes backwards, increasingly aware of how unintentionally tensed he’d let himself get. “i’ll shower at home, that’s okay. i don’t have a change of clothes here anyways.” when allistair extends across the sheets next to him he can’t help but hold his gaze, giving him every bit of attention he has and then some. “i- i didn’t realize i was looking at you some way,” he responds, careful not to stumble over the words he doesn’t know how to say. he’s thoughtful then, lips pursing as he lifts a hand to drag alongside the bridge of his nose in slight consciousness. “it wasn’t the dream as much it was how aware i was of your touch.” it’s an honest confession- a slightly scary one to admit at that. the boy reaches for his phone to read the time, a little startled by the early digits on the screen. “i feel like i’ve been out for goddamn days, not hours. i have a lecture in the afternoon and a miniature mountain of papers to grade, so i think i’ll probably stay in and get to them.” alexei’s struggling to think of reasons to stay away after this night, and a part of him thinks it’s because he won’t be able to handle that much emotion so soon- but a larger, more logical part of him thinks that allistair most likely wants the time alone as well. lighter irises carefully, slowly reach to find his again, and then he’s intaking air again because allistair looks like what alexei thinks prodosy was meant to be and maybe just maybe his heart is getting used to of beating this fast. “i- um, what about you?”
at first allistair is worried that the eggs are bad, but he sees that enough was eaten that it wasn’t a taste issue. maybe alexei wasn’t hungry? that could’ve been it. so, he allows the other to put his remaining food on his own plate, and he eats it without question. some just didn’t have appetites in the morning, and that was fine.
“are you sure? you could borrow some of my clothes.” granted, he doubted his clothes were even close to alexei’s personal taste or style, and they would probably be a bit big on him, but he liked the idea of seeing the other male in his clothes, a small smile playing on his lips as he imagines the other in his distressed jeans and band tees.
he manages a small chuckle when the other trips over his words. had he forgotten how to flirt? clearly he had, with the way he was being so honest in his answers. wow, allistair really had an affect on him, didn’t he? his smile broadens at the admission on the other’s part, and he lays back further onto his back, grinning up at the other male. “and how would you describe my touch?” as much as he was being a smug, playful shithead, he was also curious. alexei was an intellectual after all.
ah, and here came the excuses. the reasons to get away and not indulge in this new connection of theirs. why did they always run? why were they always afraid? allistair sighs. “i have a tutoring session at 2, but after that, nothing. i could come keep you company while you grade papers. i’ll even bring my guitar. do you work better with music playing?” he hoped so, because then allistair was just helping him out with his work.
