I had a theory that Ace’s dream would be about the prefect in some way but I didn’t expect to get hit with all of these feelings from him. These feelings that he locks away and puts on a front for.

NOW FOR CHERRYCARD SPECIFICALLY, RORY WOULDNT KNOW HOW TO REACT. HIM AND ACE WOULD BE DATING BUT HE WOULDNT FULLY BELIEVE THAT ACE LOVED HIM, UNTIL ACE’S DREAM.

RORY’S PAST EXPERIENCE WITH LOVE IS NOT GOOD. SO SEEING THAT ACE WANTS HIM TO STAY-EVEN TO BE ABLE TO GO BETWEEN HIS WORLD AND TWST-WOULD PUNCH HIM. “HOLY CRAP THIS GUY ACTUALLY LOVES ME”

And as soon as Ace starts crying then that’s when Rory will also breakdown. Rory never wants to return to his world and yet Ace still wants him to have that choice. So Rory tries to see all the flaws that his dream self has perfected and yet….all of his flaws that he sees in himself remain. Nothing changed even though this is Ace’s dream, Rory would assume that his dream self would be a bit different but he’s not.

And it finally solidifies in Rory’s head that Ace wants him. The only things that are different is that Ace doesn’t want him to have to worry about going home or the overblots or anything that’s caused Rory stress. Ace just wants to spend a fun time at the beach with his boyfriend and best friends.

Firing off ideas I’ve gotten

-These two are so similar in intricate ways. Having to deal with the pressure from their families, being told that they weren’t “applying” themselves enough, their self destructive habits. 

-Despite their friendship being this steep hill in the beginning, they do nudge each other towards self improvement.

-When they first met whenever they would pass each other in the halls Rory would sign “Okay” then flip it into “Asshole” just for shits and giggles.

-It wouldn’t be me if there wasn’t angst SO-

-Rory absolutely got injured during Leona’s overblot (might turn this into a drabble) that left a permanent scar on his shoulder and on Leona’s mind.

-As an apology (one of many) Leona cleaned up all of Ramshackle while Rory rested and it freaked Rory out SO MUCH. Even more so when Leona said that he made him food and coffee and that he’ll do the dishes so that Rory can keep resting.

“I thought you weren’t used to cooking?” 

“It’s not hard when you hoard cookbooks, and you deserve to ENJOY your day off from Crowley’s bullshit. Also your tupperware cabinet is a fucking nightmare.”

-Leona is Rory’s favorite reading buddy. Leona will just drape himself on top of Rory like a giant blanket while he reads.

-No thoughts just them doing their hair care together, especially since Leona’s got the money for nice high quality products.

-There is a bit of jealousy from Leona whenever Rory has a photo shoot with Vil.

-When they’re married, government officials tend to ignore Rory’s presence and not tell him important things so Leona will tell them “Speak to my husband about this.” and proceed to ignore them until they do.

-Speaking of their marriage, Leona’s wedding gift to Rory was an entire library.

-Sometimes I imagine how funny the scene is when Rory first tells Malleus about his crush on Ace. 

-They’re sitting on the bench at Ramshackle’s front gate when Rory is like “I really need advice, I like Ace as more than a friend but I have no idea how to tell him or if my feelings will even remain the same in some months.” And all Mal can say is “…Trappola?” Leading to Rory sighing, “Yes, Ace Trappola. The red head that’s in my class and always follows me around teasing me.” 

-They sit in silence for a few minutes when Malleus finally speaks up, “Wouldn’t someone else be better suited for you?” To which Rory sighs and slowly nods his head, “Unfortunately, that’s not how romantic feelings work and sometimes they just slap you in the face.” 

-Malleus: That sounds exhausting. 

Rory: It is.

-After this little talk, Malleus gives Rory advice on courting except they’re all fae courting rituals so they don’t work perfectly well in the beginning. 

-Malleus also accidentally scares Ace a few times by saying things that are just a bit too cryptic, all with good intentions. He just wants to make sure that Ace understands how much Rory likes him and wants to be around him.

-Unfortunately the dragon does have a protective streak and gets huffy it seems like Ace is the cause for any distress that Rory feels. 

-A few months after their first talk on the bench, they’re right back there with Malleus intently listening as Rory prattles on about his and Ace’s first date.

-The next day, Malleus approached Ace to thank him for taking Rory on a wonderful outing. Ace ended up fainting.

(Argos’ section basically turned into a drabble)

The Enchanted Deck

-In his home world Rory was Pagan and studied various spiritual practices. One of his favorites being Tarot. 

-When he was transported to Twisted Wonderland he kept his tarot deck with him and on his person at all times.

-One of the first few times he visited Sam’s shop he was caught off guard by the shop owner’s offer to enchant the cards. Wasn’t it a bad omen to give an outsider a way to use magic? Rory doesn’t know why Sam did this for him, maybe he saw potential that Rory was too guilt ridden to see for himself at the time.

-Learning to cast the spells was a learning curve to say the least, even with the help of not only the first year squad but his upper class men as well. It wasn’t something that came naturally to him and it was new way of casting for everyone else that advice became very muddled and hard to decipher.

-Eventually, he got the hang of it. He figured out that he didn’t always pull the spell he wanted yet it was always the spell he needed. The major arcana were more accurate while reversed cards were more powerful and unpredictable.

Argos

-My goofy goober. The apple of my eye. The devil’s advocate.

-Rory came across Argos during a class camping trip, during this him and a few others went exploring and came across ruins of some type of building. Behind these ruins though, was a grave, and at its end sat a seemingly unresponsive beast.

-The group immediately turned back to head towards the camp but not before Rory got a good look at the beast. Horns that curled around its head, matted long fur that fell in dark clumps against the ground, a rugged emaciated body where its spine protruded in certain places. Something straight out of nightmares.

-And nightmares was exactly what Rory thought he was having every time he thought he could see the beast in shadows of the campus and Ramshackle. These sightings continued for weeks before they officially met.

-It was a normal night when Rory was going on one of his usual strolls in the woods outside of campus. It’s just his luck that on this specific night, the strange creatures of the mountain were a lot more active, and he ended up finding himself in a predicament that ran him up a tree. Literally.

-As he was kicking and yelling at the creature below him, a haunting howl filled the air and the large beast from the ruins appeared. Thankfully it frightened off the creature and caused Rory to want to climb even higher up into the branches.

-When its large body came into view below him a dark mist - like shadows themselves - wrapped around the beast and in its place stood a hound similar in appearance to a German shepherd yet wrong in some ways. Fur as black as night, eyes a bright red, and a curious stare that seemed to ask “Why are you still up there?” 

-Rory debated with himself before deciding that if he died, at least it would be fast, then he jumped down. The hound sat in place and merely stared while Rory tried to figure out what he wanted. 

“Why are you here?”

“Why did you help me?” 

“What’s your name?”

-It took a while before the hound finally replied, almost like he had just remembered he could speak. Although Rory didn’t expect any type of verbal response. The hound’s voice sounded like multiple people talking over each other, his answers equally vague. 

“I am alone.”

“My mage is gone.”

“My name with them.”

-Rory hesitated yet gently pet the top of the hound’s head in thanks. 

“There’s a dog in an old story named Argos, he waited 20 years for his owner to return home.”

“I have waited much longer for my companion.” 

“Then I think you deserve the honor of that name, if you wish.” 

“If you name me, I will become your familiar. There is no breaking a bond such as that.” 

“Sounds fun having a giant dog follow me around. Come along. We should get home, Argos.”

-The pair became inseparable after that night. Everyone had questions the next day but no one dared to so them out loud, surely it only made sense for Ramshackle’s rumored ghost to have a familiar that’s a grim hound. 

I haven’t really had the motivation to finish anything lately while school is stressing me out so here’s a lil beta sketch of a new oc. She’s based off of Merida!

Her name is Mathilde or “Mattie” as her friends call her, she’s a Eurasian brown bear beastfolk, and attends RSA
