New Adventure
I have been accepted to start an internship at an events company I've admired for a very long time and hoped to work for one day!
I start tomorrow and will be working on some major events with massive clients and can't wait to get started!
Gig with Newton Faulkner
BRIEF:Â To launch a flip flop designer's new SS15 range
WHY:Â To promote new styles
WHERE:Â The Grand Union, Brixton
WHO:Â 500 guests including Imogen Thomas, Peter Simon, Jake Gosling, Asos, Tatler, Evening Standard, Metro, Capital FM, Global, Harrods, Monsoon/Acessorize, Topshop, Selfridges, Alexander McQueen, Loaded and more
WHAT:Â Launching a new SS15 range at the Grand Union in Brixton to a garden styled like a beach in Thailand, complete with tikki huts and a tikki bar.Â
Free drinks were served all night by Brothers Cider and Brugal Rum, with free pedicures from Perfect 10 Mobile Beauty Service. Guests could also feast their eyes on a live graffiti performance from Graffiti Life and goody bag gifts from various leading brands. A flip flop shop was open to guests with a donation to the flip flop designer's foundation in return for their flip flops.
I booked Newton Faulkner and Victoria to perform at the event, both artists are on OMG Music which is run by Lottie, Newton Faulkner's sister. Victoria are an upcoming band with high hopes, they look set to be storming the UK and we'll hopefully hear them on the radio very soon.
Newton Faulkner performed a stunning set lit only by the light of the fire pits to an audience who crowded around and sat on the floor to join in with him.
The event was a major success and was covered by Loaded Magazine and received air time on Capital FM.Â
I was solely responsible for organising the whole event, from booking suppliers to organising drink sponsors and booking the artists. This event was my first taste at producing a major product launch as an Event Coordinator and it has only spurred me on to achieve greater things.

The aim was to invite celebrities over to our stand to get some flip flops, hear about the brand and endorse us through social media.
Celebrities we gifted were Alexandra Burke, Kaya Scodelario, Coleen Rooney, Kodaline, Pixie Lott, Oliver Cheshire, Melvin O'Doom, Neon Jungle and many more.

Blogstock
BRIEF:Â Talk to bloggers
WHY:Â Talk about starting a fashion business
WHERE:Â Hertfordshire
WHO:Â Up to 200 bloggers
WHAT:Â On the week of Blogstock I received a call from the organiser to say she hadn't heard from us and wondered if we were still coming...this was news to me and we eventually found out that a colleague who left the company arranged for the flip flop brand to do a talk there but forgot to tell us about it!
In a very short amount of time I arranged for one of the brothers to rush down to the festival and give a talk on how to start a fashion business.
Blogstock is a great festival and nothing like anything before. I really think it will be an even bigger success each year and hopefully it will carry on!

WHERE:Â Hertfordshire
WHO:Â Major celebrities, artists, press, media, general public
WHAT:Â I organised for the flip flop brand to have a presence at Standon Calling both backstage and in the main arena to sell flip flops to the general public and promote and gift celebrities backstage.
The team that went were interns I had recruited and trained and through training they were able to secure some great endorsements from celebrities.
Frank Turner wasn't able to post about us on social media at Sonisphere as he was incredibly busy so he came over to the stand and posted about the flip flops at Standon Calling. Public Enemy were also massive fans of the flip flops with Flavor Flav ending up dedicating their entire headline set to the brand and bringing the shoe box onstage to show the audience.

WHERE:Â Westfields Shopping Centre, USC Oxford Street

We created a pop up area at Westfields shopping centre with a large inflatable flip flop and shoppers at USC were sent on a flip flop treasure hunt to find free flip flops with the help of another giant flip flop.
Celebrities were also encouraged to get involved and we had tweets from Stephen Fry and Tom from McFly.
In the run up to the event we contacted hundreds of companies to get them involved and get their staff wearing flip flops to work for the day. Companies like Nandos and HP took the day even further by setting up beach themes and games in their offices to fundraise.
We also ran a holiday competition with Virgin Holidays who gave some lucky winners a free holiday and runners up free flip flops to promote the day further.

WHY:Â To sell flip flops and support other tsunami based charities
WHERE:Â Somerset
WHO:Â General public, charities, local brands, artists
WHAT:Â My first event with the flip flop brand was at a music festival called Home Farm Fest, run by a lovely man called Luke. Luke runs a charity called the Peter Simon Appeal which is a similar charity to the flip flop brand. Luke lost his brother in the Boxing Day tsunami and has since been on a mission to help children in need around the world who are in need of an education. He created "School In A Bag', a backpack filled by yourself and sent to the children in need.
You can find out more about the Piers Simon Appeal here:

On the first night of the festival they traditionally do 'Posh Frocks and Wellies' but as the flip flop brand were coming to the festival for the first time they decided to do 'Posh Frocks and Flip Flops'.

Being the Events Coordinator at the flip flop brand
This summer I worked for a flip flop brand. The company was started by two brothers who tragically lost their parents in the Boxing Day tsunami and wanted to overcome their adversity by creating change.
They created a charity mission and are now hoping to build orphanages all around the world to help fellow orphans who are in need.
Whilst working for the brand I organised their presence at major UK festivals, and managed events such as conferences, pop up shops, product launches, uni tours, school challenges, charity gigs and more. As the sole events coordinator there I quickly learnt more about the events field in the industry. It was a very exciting job and I was given a lot of great opportunities to work with major clients, celebrities, artists and event managers in the field.Â
Arts Upon Thames Festival
BRIEF:Â Arts Upon Thames FestivalÂ
WHY: For my Event Management in Music dissertation
WHERE:Â Hannafords and Knights Park Bat at Kingston University
WHO:Â General public, students, teachers, artists
WHAT: In my third year of uni I decided to do my dissertation on Event Management in Music, particularly small festivals. I put on a two day festival called Arts Upon Thames Festival, comprising over twenty acts from around Kingston Upon Thames and showcasing their talent.
I organised this event solely on my own. That included doing all the design, t-shirts, logo, website, social media, pre-planning, booking acts, artist liaison, hiring equipment, setting up equipment, on site management, negotiating, booking venues, liaising with suppliers and building relationships with the artists and clients.Â
It took under 3 months from beginning to end to plan and the event with my dissertation taking much longer! I researched and studied a lot of areas of event management which gave me the skills I needed to pull the event off.
