BRIEF: Arts Upon Thames Festival
WHY: For my Event Management in Music dissertation
WHERE: Hannafords and Knights Park Bat at Kingston University
WHO: General public, students, teachers, artists
WHAT: In my third year of uni I decided to do my dissertation on Event Management in Music, particularly small festivals. I put on a two day festival called Arts Upon Thames Festival, comprising over twenty acts from around Kingston Upon Thames and showcasing their talent.
I organised this event solely on my own. That included doing all the design, t-shirts, logo, website, social media, pre-planning, booking acts, artist liaison, hiring equipment, setting up equipment, on site management, negotiating, booking venues, liaising with suppliers and building relationships with the artists and clients.
It took under 3 months from beginning to end to plan and the event with my dissertation taking much longer! I researched and studied a lot of areas of event management which gave me the skills I needed to pull the event off.
