     “It’s just a scratch.” The shark insists, barely paying attention to the small injury on her arm. “Nothing to really worry about okay?”

Hearing such praise from Makoto was something that definitely made Rei happier than he could even begin to express. Having started from not being able to swim at all and getting to where he was now had been undeniably difficult, however, the rewards for all of his hard work had paid off and the megane finally felt as if he had somewhere that he belonged and friends that he wanted to keep within his life no matter what. Adjusting his red frames in a slightly embarrassed gesture, Rei smiled as he glanced up at the older male.

“Thank you, Makoto-senpai, that really does mean a lot to me.” Rei responded with a bashful smile. “Ah! No of course not! You can stay for as long as you like. We are just doing time trials at the moment so you wouldn’t be interrupting at all.” the azure haired teen continued with a bright smile as he glanced over towards the pool where his team were currently still practicing. “I’m sure they would all love to have someone as talented as you here at the practice.” Rei definitely looked up to Makoto regarding his swimming and his demeanour, there was no denying that fact.

     Time trials. Now those were the days. He used to LOVE the rush he got out of pushing his body to the MAX in order to improve his speed, all for the relay he’d swim with his friends. Waving off the other’s praise, he shoved his hands into his jean pockets, observing how the team was working like a well-oiled machine. “I’m as talented as the rest of them are.” Haru was the one to be put on a pedestal for his actions by pure talent alone, the rest of his techniques SHARPENED during training. 

“ Mako-chan, Mako-chan! ” Nagisa ran up to Makoto eagerly. “ Do you know where Haru-chan is right now? ” tachibanaorca

     The DISTINCT tone of voice reveals who is approaching before he turns around, hands FULL with a stray cat as he entertains it and cuddles the animal close to his chest. 

     A high-pitched SQUEAL can be heard from the 6 foot swimmer, Makoto jumping forward and finding the nearest object to hide behind, which happened to be a TREE. Body shook from the jump-scare, and as he peeked out from behind the tree, fear turns to ANNOYANCE at the recognition of his friend.

Rei could only imagine just how much hard work University truly was, the prospect of graduating himself and attending University was an exciting yet daunting one all the same. There was no denying the fact that hearing Makoto was doing well made the megane happy, a broad smile curving across his features within an instant.

“I can only imagine just how busy Haruka-senpai is at the moment, please do give him my regards when you next see him.” Rei smiled as glanced around at the growing swim team, he truly was proud that he and Nagisa had managed to keep the swim club going at that it was beginning to gain far more attention than they ever could have dreamed of. “We are doing okay, it was difficult at first but once we managed to settle into a comfortable routine everything has been going well. Everyone works hard and that definitely helps a lot. I still can’t quite believe that you chose to make me captain.” the megane continued, the smile never leaving his face for even a second. He wanted nothing more than to make Makoto proud of his achievements and he hoped that he was doing so.

     With a promised nod that he’d let Haru know Rei said hello, he listened to the other talk about the CHALLENGES of building an almost completely new swim team. To see that they had swimmers to spare was REFRESHING to Makoto, and it made him PROUD that he had been a part of a team that had gained so much respect from the school when they had started out with little to nothing. At the mention of Rei becoming captain, Makoto’s smile softened and a hand lifted to give a gentle squeeze upon his friend’s shoulder.
