The tabloid newspaper reader demographic tends to be older people, so the health-related (and other) headlines they like to put on the front page are usually about issues relevant to that age group.
But the health benefits of (specifically) walking is also a theme that shows up often enough that I notice it. I don't know any old folks who don't enjoy walks, so who are they trying to convince? It's an interesting choice for "slow news day" filler.
