Idk what to draw for my 2000s au. I'm writing the first chapter rn... mmmm but I wanna draw them doing stuff, any ideas? What if I just drop random lore of my AU... imma do that too.
So 2000s au uhhh facts? Lore? Idk?
1. Everyone is 2 years older than in Canon, which means Pony's 16, Darry's 22, Soda's 18, Steve's 19, Two's 20, Johnny's 18, and Dally's 19. U get it.
2. They all have... GULP, JOBS! Ponyboy works at ur local Blockbuster. Soda & Steve work at QT. Two-Bit actually has a job at a mall called, Utica Square, specifically in Spencers. (Idk if they have a Spencers but I mean... what mall doesn't?) Johnny works in a record store named, guyz get this 🥹... Sunset Club Records. (Just realized this store opened in 2025, so 4 my sack lets pretend there was one made in the 2000s. Okai? Okai!) Darry works at Buc-ee's and lowkey hates it. And uh Dally works rodeos, and live stock shows or something.
3. The Curtis parents are alive! Yayayaya! 🤷♀️ They both work and are pretty well off . The brother's grandparents are also really involved in their life's too.
4. Darry goes to college at the University of Texas, he's only there to get in the NFL fr, but he does study business. So actually Soda's still in school, he's a senior, and Pony's graduating with him & Johnny!!! Steve already graduated the year prior. Unless he's also a senior... I can't think rn. Anyway, Two-Bit dropped out, but while he works he's working on the whole GED thing.
5. Uhm so this is their jobs/what they're famous for. Ponyboy is a screenwriter/author, Soda models/acts, Darry got into the NFL, Johnny's in a band with the Shepard's but he has side jobs that makes him more popular than the siblings, Steve becomes an F1 racer, Two is a screenwriter/director/comedian, and Dallas is a rodeo star/actor. Kinda random jobs actually.
6. Steve, Johnny, Dally, and the Shepard's still do have neglectful/abusive parents cause uh... that feels kinda important to keep. Sadly this isn't a fairytale kinda fic.
7. Johnny practically lives with the Shepard's. Tim has his own place but it's hard to keep paying for bc guess what! This is set during the great recession so the housemarket is buns rn. So Curly and Tim be taking any job to keep up with bills and stuff.
8. The gang doesn't exist in this AU. Two's a family friend of the Curtis's, Steve is only friends with Soda, Johnny's only friends with Pony and Dally, Dally only knows Johnny, and Darry only knows those his brothers know besides Two bc yeah.
9. Dally has siblings and while born in NY he moved to Bixby, Oklahoma. Not Tulsa. His siblings are Tex, Mason, Rusty, and Motorcycle Boy. He's the 2nd oldest, and since MB is barely there and with his dad and mom always gone He's raised his brothers way more than anyone else.
10. ...Bob is the first person who scouted Ponyboy at all. Uh he's their talent manager, and presents nepotism in it's finest form. So since his father owns the company the boys work for (TPA) and since they've never been in the industry before he pressures them into contracts they don't really understand.
11. Now while they do have agents all over TPA Soda, Johnny, and the Shepard's all have Randy as their agent. He typically helps Bob with these contract deals since his father is co-owner of the company with Bob's father. And while most agents aren't from the same company as people's talent managers they kinda snaked their way into making it less odd.
12. Cherry and Marcia though are from a different company, Cherry actually became a sports scout, and while maybe in a bit of unfair circumstances did she get the job she is fairly well trained and qualified in that field. Even if most men tell her different. That's how she ended up Darry, Dallas and Steve's agent.
13. Marcia actually finds most her talents on social media, hence how she found Two-Bit. Pony was handed off to her by Bob. She actually is fairly distant in her job as people's agent. She only works as one because it pays easy to just sit and wait for something to happen most times. She's not exactly actively seeking out talents like most agents.
14. Yknow I made Pony a skaterboy/scene kid, but not like nonchalant or whatever, he actually sucks at skating and falls way to much that he has to wear proper skating gear bc he cannot be trusted. He's broken a bone or two before. He only got into the scene style bc Johnny.
15. Soda's a lot more prissy than I meant to make him. He's ur typical mcbling, glitter, shine, juicy couture kinda guy. He keeps up with the latest trends, listens to the latest scandals, and is actually kinda deemed as the odd one out bc of how he is.
16. Darry is rather preppy and kinda keeps into ur regular prep guy. He doesn't get why Soda dresses and acts the way he does, but he also doesn't get how Pony can be so carefree, and wear these crazy colors, all while not bothering to try to dress at least presentable. Yes, they're personalities are kinda different compared to canon, but you'll see once the story progresses when I post it.
17. Two is actually a Tumblr, YouTube, and was a vine icon 🥺 rip Vine. He was like if smosh was made from one person while taking inspiration from various comedians. Yes he writes his own skits and has the brothers play parts in them if he needs more people. Marcia loves his skits trust. Im not funny enough to give u guyz examples so just know he's funny. I'm not.
18. Steve is a Frutiger metro guy, but he likes most Frutiger things. Look at his closet he wears anything that is insanely blinding to anyone, but Soda loves it so ik they be mismatching clothes for da fun of it. Do I know what im talking about, no. Just imagine with me. Look at my drawings even. Just shhhh.
19. Johnny's a scene kid, he changes his hair dye once a week, if he's having a crisis make it thrice. He tries to get those closes to him into the idea of being scene sadly it's only worked on Pony and Curly, even if both them still have their own styles. He does do piercings, maybe a botched tattoo or two, dyes and cuts anyones hair, and is constantly eating everything in Tim's house while playing games on their shared computer. Bc they broke 😝.
20. Dally is the most country a city boy can be. He's constantly outside working with the animals and helps his brothers with their horses and animals to get ready for showing and auctioning. The rodeo is something Dallas had done since ever. From riding the sheep, donkeys, horses, to bulls; he's always been content with that life. He does become a bit of a punk guy ngl, he blames Johnny, Johnny knows it isn't all his fault he just helped where he could, but he can't bother fighting Dally bout it.
Okai uh... that's all I have rn. So maybe that can fuel some ideas u guyz wanna see me draw. I just shared this info so y'all could request stuff to draw. Is any of this making u guyz interested in my au? Ik cool right. Jk idk im tired. I might make an ask blog 4 this au.
