Okay but what if I accidentally made my OC universe into the wizarding equivalent of Game of Thrones 😭
Like I started making one family…
And now I’m staring at my notes realizing I’ve somehow built an entire political ecosystem of magical dynasties that have probably been beefing with each other for literal centuries.
The kind that have existed for hundreds of years.
The kind that have arranged political marriages, formed alliances, accidentally started blood feuds over something that happened in 1683, and are STILL refusing to let it go because “it’s the principle.”
Imagine Hogwarts professors seeing these surnames on the sorting list every September and immediately sighing.
“Oh wonderful… another Tsuyuki.”
“Wait… there’s a Valentin AND a Marella this year?”
Professor Weasley probably has a hidden betting pool with the professors over which ancient family is going to cause the first diplomatic incident of the school year.
Anyway here’s my current family tree because I fear I may have accidentally cooked.
* Ancient muggle aristocracy.
* Politicians, diplomats, judges, CEOs.
* The family magical nobility secretly envies because somehow they became just as influential without magic.
* Motto: Power does not require magic.
They’re the kind of people who can solve a magical political issue… with paperwork.
Half the Ministry probably owes them a favour.
* Elegant to an almost terrifying degree.
* They don’t raise their voices.
* They simply stare until everyone else apologises.
Their family dinners are so quiet it’s actually intimidating.
Nobody knows who’s in charge.
* European magical aristocracy.
* Rich enough to accidentally finance governments.
* Every generation somehow produces someone ridiculously charismatic.
* Ancient Japanese magical house.
* Closely tied to Ancient Magic itself.
* Family archives older than Hogwarts.
* Their estate probably has rooms nobody has entered in three centuries.
There are probably family secrets hidden behind seventeen enchanted doors and one very judgemental fox spirit.
Renn somehow grew up around all of this and still decided sarcasm was the appropriate coping mechanism.
* Literal rulers of the Seven Seas.
* Every ocean treaty somehow goes through them.
* Cordelia is basically magical royalty pretending to be a normal student.
Imagine trying to bully someone before finding out their grandmother literally governs the Atlantic Ocean.
* One of the oldest werewolf bloodlines.
* They’ve been wolves for so many generations that transformation is practically woven into the family’s identity.
* Every family portrait somehow looks mildly threatening.
Valentin being an absolute menace means the family tree looks less like a tree and more like an expanding spider diagram.
Minjae discovering a new half-sibling every few years is basically tradition at this point.
* Bengali magical nobility.
* The women descend from Shakchunnis.
* Also perfectly willing to lure awful men into the Forbidden Forest and eat them.
One minute they’re discussing classical literature over tea.
“…where did that man go?”
The Baudelaire / de La Fayette Family
Ancient French magical aristocracy.
Old Veela blood runs through the family.
Not enough that they’re full Veela anymore—but enough that every single family member is offensively attractive for absolutely no reason.
* impossibly symmetrical features
* voices people subconsciously pay attention to
* naturally graceful posture
* they somehow always smell expensive
* every family reunion looks like Paris Fashion Week collided with the Met Gala.
Their portraits probably gossip about Napoleon.
Half the family looks like they stepped out of a Renaissance oil painting.
The other half looks like they’re walking a couture runway.
✔ French aristocratic elegance
…only to spend his time playing Quidditch, founding an archery club, shooting arrows for fun, and acting like everyone’s favourite rich aunt.
His cousins probably inherited the Veela blood even stronger than he did.
So Dan thinks he’s gorgeous (he is), then his cousin walks into the room looking like an immortal Vogue cover and he’s just—
“Mother… why was I nerfed?”
He spends every family reunion fighting for his life because his relatives somehow manage to out-serve him without even trying.
It’s less “family portrait” and more “luxury perfume campaign.”
And honestly I love that every family has their own “speciality.”
Waynes = power without magic.
Tsuyukis = Ancient Magic.
Filschers = European (rich) aristocracy
Marellas = mermaid royalty.
Valentins = werewolf dynasty.
Sens = Bengali Shakchunni lineage.
Baudelaires = Veela beauty, French elegance and enough inherited jewellery to bankrupt a small country.
They’re all prestigious for completely different reasons.
It makes the world feel so much bigger because every house has its own history, customs, rivalries and weird family traditions.
I just KNOW there’s some ancient magical history professor somewhere whose lectures are just eighty percent trying to explain why half these families refuse to sit at the same table.
My OCs aren’t actually princes and princesses. [well Cordelia is buttt]
They’re just descendants of these ridiculously ancient dynasties trying to survive seventh year while their families are busy arguing over centuries-old blood pacts, inheritance laws, diplomatic incidents and “your great-great-grandfather insulted mine in 1742.”
Meanwhile Seojun is just trying to eat breakfast while three noble houses are one passive-aggressive comment away from declaring war over something that happened before indoor plumbing existed.
Cordelia accidentally starts an international incident by saying she likes one ocean better than another.
Dan is trying to convince everyone he’s the sophisticated cousin while simultaneously being the loudest person at every gathering.
Renn is pretending she doesn’t care while absolutely caring.
And Minjae’s family tree is just…
└── “…Dad… how many siblings do we actually have?”
“…yes.” [Ignacio you SLUT]
