Yesterday, artist Bryan Konietzko, one half of the Avatar: The Last Airbender team, revealed his newest project.

“Imagine five planets that share a single orbit. Imagine an inquisitive young scientist, curious about the world, setting out on adventures across the universe” - Entertainment Weekly 

Threadworlds is the title of Bryan’s new graphic novel series, slated for release in 2017. Set in a fantastical spacefaring world, with lush environments and action filled adventures, the series tells the origin story of Nova, a young scientist exploring her universe. As a lover of Bryan’s work, sci-fi/fantasy, and graphic novels on the whole, I am thrilled about the concept of a scientist comic book hero.

“… once science became the focal point of the story I knew it was important to me to have a young girl as the main character. This is basically Nova’s long origin story as scientific superhero. I hope she’ll be inspiring to readers of all genders and ages, but especially girls who are interested in studying and pursuing science.” - Bryan Kontietzko
