Okay, Concept
Spoilers Ahead
So, itâs unclear how many times Mara went through the barn and came out with a new personality.
However, it is canon that one of the personalities was bisexual.
So this leads to an idea.
What if one of her personalities was a trans woman?
Itâs plausible and in the realm of possibility, or at least I believe so.
Since they didn't provide us with a complete breakdown of all her overlays I think almost anything is possible. Including a cis-male.
Haven DVD Commentary - 3.04 Over My Head
Commentary with Gabrielle Stanton, Executive Producer (and writer for this episode) and Matt McGuinness, Executive Producer.
As we see Tommy pull a dead body out of his car in the previouslies, MMG wonders if they âhad a real body in thereâ and decides probably not from the way it hits the ground.
As we see Audrey and Nathan in the morgue, MMG comments thatâs a set they built and GS adds, âWe finally realised we have enough dead bodies on this show that we could use a coronerâs office.â
The woman we see grabbed at the ATM and who is then scalped by the bolt gun killer is also Emily Roseâs stand in.
MMG mentions they âhad a lot of dramaâ over how grisly they could be on showing the scalping. They agree that the final product is not very grisly at all and GS says that the first cut was âquite grisly-erâ.

Nathan:Â âStay there.â Duke:Â âWith the dead body?â
Gabrielle Stanton, Executive Producer and writer for this episode:Â âThat was actually an ad lib, but it was good so we left it in. Eric likes to ad lib and he likes big sweaters. We try to accommodate his requests for both.â
More notes on the DVD commentary here.
Matt McGuinness, DVD Commentary for 3.04 - Over My Head:Â âI like when Ericâs snarky and funny, and youâre not quite sure what heâs about.â
I love this description of Eric and his acting talents :)

One of my favourite things about Haven is Sarah Vernonâs change of look between her only appearances.
This is her in season 2. You can see that her hair is a wig and it looks quite fake. Something just doesnât feel right about her.
However,
this is her in her last appearances. Her hair looks real now and the eyebrows match her hair more. Her entire posture and look just looks right.
Itâs kind of funny how these simple changes impacted the character a lot.
Of course, he rocks!
Sam Ernst, Haven Panel, New York Comic Con, October 2011, following some debate about exactly how Dukeâs Trouble might work.
For more notes on the whole panel see here.
Thanks to @balfoursyard for pointing out this is in fact Sam Ernst and not Jim Dunn as originally advertised (have now changed it in the original). My brain is not always very good with names :/

A plate sat on the counter, piled high with chocolate brownies. Gooey, almost oozing with chocolate, dusted with icing sugar and tempting. So tempting. Dukeâs baking was always better than anything from Rosemaryâs and they called to him, crying out to be eaten.
Nathanâs willpower had never been strong when it came to eating sweet things and he couldnât resist taking one and eating it, careful not to drop any telltale crumbs. Surely Duke wouldnât miss just one.

Excerpt: The Gathering Dark
So I didnât have time to write anything for the prompt this week, so hereâs something that kinda fits, from an older, unfinished story.
Prompt:Â âIâm not saying you canât shoot him. Iâm just saying you canât shoot him here.â
Duke came by at one, as promised, with meals and ridiculously complicated coffees. Â Nathan had to work to keep a neutral expression; for something that apparently contained a large portion of whipped foam and was sprinkled with ground chicory, it was surprisingly good, and the sheer volume of sugar in it would probably be just as effective as the caffeine in keeping him awake for the next few hours. Â Duke ate with them, taking up space on the couch and listening to them talk, occasionally interjecting a comment when he knew something about someone they were discussing.
It wasnât exactly a break, but it was refreshing anyway; Audrey certainly looked the better for it, and they dove back in with renewed energy when Duke headed back out an hour later, with the firm threat that if they didnât pack up by eight, he was going to come back and drag them out himself.
Nathan was pretty sure he wasnât actually serious, but he did plan to make sure they went home at some point.
He should have taken Duke at his word; at eight thirty, he walked back in looking irritated.
âAny progress?â he asked, and Audrey looked up, startled- sheâd been plotting out houses on a town map, trying to find any kind of commonality between their victims.
âNot yet,â she replied, and Duke stepped closer and plucked the pencil out of her hand, which was a far bolder move than Nathan would have dared to try. Â Of course, heâd been with Audrey all day, had seen the steadily increasing frustration as she fought to come up with a solution and failed.
âThen youâre not losing out by stopping. Â Come on, it is time to wrap up, youâve been here since seven this morning, you need to take a break, eat something, and think about something else for a little while. Â And then you need to sleep, and I guarantee you, if you shoot me it is not going to get you back to your work any faster, it will just create new distractions, so please stop reaching for your gun.â Â Duke gave Audreyâs hand a pointed look where it had definitely twitched in the direction of her sidearm, and Nathan actually almost laughed, which probably meant he was in need of more than a few hours sleep himself.
âCome on, Parker, no shooting civilians in the office, know I wouldnât be able to overlook that. Â Not even for you,â he said, closing the file heâd been going over. Â âYou want to shoot him, you at least have to follow him outside, and at that point you may as well let him feed you first.â
âThank you, Nathan, for your very helpful support,â Duke said, glaring over his shoulder in Nathanâs direction, though there was a hint of a smile well-hidden around his mouth.
âDonât want to have to move everything into the other office while we wait for a crew to come in and clean the carpets,â Nathan replied, shrugging and standing up, reaching for his jacket- Duke was wearing a sweater over the shirt heâd had on earlier, so itâd apparently gotten colder.
âI do not have to take this kind of abuse,â Duke said, and he was obviously having trouble hiding his amusement, now, one corner of his mouth quirking up, the laugh lines around his eyes deepening.
âAnd yet, here you are anyway,â Nathan said, walking over to pull Audreyâs chair out, offering her a hand. Â âCome on, Parker. Â Change of scenery might do us some good, letâs go. Â Heâs not going to stop until we do.â
âWe could arrest him,â Audrey grumbled, but she accepted Nathanâs hand and stood up, only a little wobbly after sitting in one position for the better part of the last few hours.
âThat means paperwork, and I do not want to do any more paperwork,â Nathan replied, as Duke grabbed Audreyâs jacket from off the back of her chair and draped it over her shoulders. Â And it maybe felt wrong to be joking, to be having to work to hide a smile, when they had no idea how to keep this from happening again, when there were still twenty seven innocent children in the morgue and a hundred adults who didnât know who they were, but it also felt necessary, felt like a strained muscle being carefully stretched.
They werenât any good to anyone if they worked themselves into insensibility, if they drowned themselves in tragedy.
It was probably a good thing they had someone willing to show up and drag them out of the office.
