no matter how exciting it was to be here with the woman she loved, diana still wasn’t exactly used to these sorts of things. sure, they were special celebrations in the commune – but it was much different. feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything, she suggested that they step outside into the garden for a little bit. the moment she stepped outside, she immediately felt at ease, her tense shoulders relaxing. “it’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?” she was always bad at small talk. she leaned over to take aoi’s hand into her own, pausing momentarily. “that fountain is so pretty…” cue a sudden thought. “have you ever gotten into a fountain before? you know like how they do in the movies?” she had gotten most of her knowledge about the outside world through pop culture and wasn’t sure if people actually did that or not.

“yeah my dress is homemade, do you have a problem with that?” she was making a scene and she couldn’t care less. she had wanted to come, to have the chance to feel like a princess and dance with some attractive people, but naturally someone had to go and make a snide comment. she should have let it go. she had plenty of offers to dance since showing up, and she had yet to take them all up on it. but still, ginny couldn’t help but feel a little self conscious. her mom had always made a lot of her clothes and she loved her for it, but sometimes she couldn’t help but wish she could have something a little more glamorous for events like this. she frowned, stomping over to the closet person. “do i look good?” she asked, holding out her arms to give them a full look. “pretty? beautiful? hot even? i don’t really care just, am i any of those things right now?”

DIANA: You don't know how happy I am that you said yes!

DIANA: It would have been embarrassing showing up to your house all dressed up just to hear a no.

DIANA: I'm sure you'll look breath-taking even if we don't match.

AOI: I would never say no to you ever!

AOI: I feel so lucky right now help I'm crying

DIANA: This may be short notice, but...

DIANA: Is there any chance you'd be interested in attending the Founders Ball with me?

AOI: Are you kidding????

AOI: I WOULD LOVE TO!!

Gary couldn’t help but laugh softly as he shook his head slightly, “You haven’t lived until you’ve had chips – or french fries – with gravy on them or curry sauce. Thinking about any condiments on crisps, otherwise known as your version of potato chips, is kind of gross.” Having a work out buddy was something that definitely could do him some good, especially when Merlin wasn’t currently around to constantly check up on him and make sure he was staying on track. “It’s nice to meet you, Aoi, I’m Gary but you can call me Eggsy if you want. I’d totally love to work out with you. I’ve seen your routine and I’m pretty impressed, I feel like you could really push me to my limit.”

Aoi tilted her head to the side, wondering just how good gravy on french fries could be. Considering her love of sweet things and that gravy wasn’t exactly something she liked to indulge in, she was skeptical. “I’ll try it once just for you, but I’m not too sure how good it will be,” she teased, sticking her tongue out at the other playfully. She beamed, however, once her routine was complimented. She’d worked hard on perfecting it since she didn’t exactly let herself have a coach full time. “Really? Yeah, I’ll totally challenge you! That’s, like, half the fun of working out -- which only gets more fun if someone is there with you.”

Piper had experienced her fair share of self-esteem issues in the past so couldn’t help but sympathize with the other, a small frown tugging at her lips before she nodding her head out of gratefulness as she took the small bit of pastry. “Don’t apologize, everyone has off days. I’m just glad I could do something to make your day just a little brighter.” She pursed her lips slightly before looking the other over once more. “Even if your muscles feel like they may be weighing you down, I don’t think that’s really true. Sometimes our brain likes to play tricks on us, especially when we’re feeling down. It’s not very fair, is it?”

Aoi nodded, thankful that someone kind had come her way on such a dark day. “I wish we could just sleep through our off days so we wouldn’t have to deal with them,” she commented, biting into the little pastry and enjoying the sweet taste. Yes, this was definitely what she needed. “No, it’s not fair. Like, hello, brain? Please stop, that doesn’t make sense. I would just be a weird pile of bones that wouldn’t be able to move,” she playfully called out, laughing slightly.

“ Ah gosh. Was this yours?? I’m sor- sorry.  ”

“Well... yeah, it kind of was. But, I guess you can keep it now, man. Though, next time you should probably get your own and keep track of it.”

With the last customer leaving, a small sigh escaped her lips.  grabbing her book from behind the counter, she made her way over to the window seat. Sitting down on it, she leaned back against the wall. After a long day, all she wanted was to just relax. Even if it was for a few minutes before cleaning up and heading up to her apartment. Before she could even open her book, she heard the door open. Sitting up from her position, she looked over at the person. “We’re closed for the night. But I could make a small exception possibly.”

Aoi knew it was late, but cravings didn’t stop past five. She’d jogged up to the small cafe, hoping it would till be open by the time she got there. The door was still open and someone was in there so it had to be open, right? She frowned slightly at the news, but she didn’t move to leave considering the other was willing to help her out. “Well, that would be super awesome -- I’d tip you really well,” she bartered. “I just really need coffee and a slice of cake. My body demands it and I’m no good at making my own. Honestly, it would probably keep me up all night.”

At the question, ‘Scooter’ shook his head. “I’m sorry, but I haven’t seen it. But I’d be more than happy to help you look! I’m actually looking for something too. Or well some place.” He needed to find the theater before the show started, but it seemed that he wasn’t even close to it, since his phone said he was somewhere in Virginia. So he figured the next best thing would be to call Kermit and tell him he wouldn’t be there in time, and find a bus schedule. Or a place to rent a car.

Another huffy sigh and Kyle was throwing his hands in the air. “Looks like we’re bother screwed then. I guess I can just... keep asking around,” he said, glancing around at his surroundings. Yeah, he wasn’t familiar with this place at all. “I think that’ll do you good too since I don’t think I’ll be able to help you find your way, buddy. I’m Kyle by the way,” he said, extending his hand out to shake.

mabel was in a crummy mood. usually for her that meant binging on sugar and watching some horrible romcoms, but apparently now she had to go around and take it out on other people, or risk her and her brother’s friendship. she had been walking head down, feet kicking at the rocks on the road, so it should have been surprising when she bumped into someone but mabel couldn’t help but stumble back anyways. “watch it.” it helped that that came out almost naturally in her shock of being bumped into. she took a deep breath, trying to make it look natural. just do it mabel. make it feel like an acting exercise. “could you get out of my way? you’re too ridiculous looking to even be in my space like this.”

“It’s no problem at all really, I’m happy to help.” Tilting her head, she thought for a moment before deciding. “We could go to the mall. There are a lot of clothing stores to look in.”

“The mall?” She asked, both mystified by the name and curious. “What’s a mall? Like, a giant store?” She asked. There was no such thing as a mall under the sea.

It was even hard for Carmilla to focus on anything coming out of the girl’s mouth at this point, eyes still remaining locked on the sight of the other’s neck. “Mmm, yeah… super useful.” Even her tone sounded dazed as she extended her hand outward to brush Aoi’s hair over her shoulder, taking a step closer to the other. “You know what’s even better than just relying on smell though? Actually getting to sink your teeth into something sweet.” She felt her throat tighten as her fangs begin to poke through, unsure how much longer she could control herself.

“Thank you!” Sibella replied, a grin on her face. She prided herself on her fashion sense. “And of course I’ll help you!” Her motherly instincts kicked in almost instantly. “Where would you like to go?”

Aoi clapped out of happiness, trying to keep from jumping. “Really? You’re so kind! And, oh goodness -- I don’t know! Are there a lot of different places we could go to? Where do you think we should go?”
