Taylor Swift is a really imperfect person and has a lot of learning and self-evaluating to do (like many of us) and I feel that her die-hard fans, such as yourself, try soo hard to erase that and make her seem like she can do no wrong. Being one of her "yes" men won't do her any good, it keeps her oblivious and thinking she is holier than thou and fuels her victim complex, when that's not the case
ok but i donât see any fans saying that sheâs a perfect person who has no learning or self-evaluating to do. fans have been here all along saying we hope her feminism improves (and we were all so happy to see that she acknowledged her privilege and said she wants to use it to help others less fortunate).
i really do not consider myself to be the type of fan who thinks that everything taylor has done is perfect and that criticism against her is NEVER warranted. i have very openly acknowledged when iâve thought she could do better. but what you have to understand is that defending someone from a specific kind of criticism does not in ay way mean that we think sheâs perfect. people are more nuanced than that, the WORLD is more nuanced than that. imperfect people still donât deserve to have cruel things said about them that are untrue
here is a list of criticism that fans have been defending her over the past few days:
that she purposely researched the date that kanye westâs mother died and decided to release her album on that day (which beyond being unspeakably cruel is also just kind of stupid because literally why would that hurt himâŚ)
that sheâs a literal white supremacist and a nazi (i honestly couldnât tell you why people are saying this but they are)
that she is copying beyonce and thus appropriating black culture by copying the formation video because she released one screencap of a video that showed her standing in a line with backup dancers
that she is an abuser, or a least an abuse apologist, because she released a satirical, tongue in cheek song that includes the lyrics âlook what you made me doâ
that sheâs purposely trying to ruin kanye and kimâs lives and careers because of the release of said song even though it includes no overt references to them
that sheâs a dramatic attention seeker who wants everyone to feel sorry for her because she⌠released a song and announced an album by tweeting about it to people who follow her and doing literally no other promo
that is what fans (of all races, genders and sexual orientations, btw) are defending her from but if youâd like to clarify why any of this shouldnât be defended please feel free to come back because i do appreciate that this message wasnât too harsh
