In the aftermath of war, a family’s life has been reduced to unimaginable hardship. Kareman, a devoted teacher and mother, lives with her husband, Ayman, and their young son, Hamoud, in a tent that offers no warmth, no protection, and no solace. Their once-simple life, filled with hope and stability, has been utterly shattered since October 7th, 2023.

The school where Kareman once taught children has been destroyed, and Ayman’s livelihood, a fishing boat, now lies in rubble. What remains is a daily battle against hunger, freezing cold, and constant fear. Flour costs over $350, and the milk Kareman needs to feed little Hamoud is priced at $125—expenses that are beyond reach for a family that has lost everything.

As bombs continue to fall, the family dreams of a chance to escape this nightmare. Evacuating to safety would cost an insurmountable $45,000—a figure they cannot even begin to fathom affording. Yet, Kareman remains resilient, driven by the hope of a better life for her son and the determination to provide him with safety and food, if only for one day.

In her own words, she asks: “Can you imagine for just a moment what it’s like to be in our shoes?”

Abeer Salem is a 55-year-old mother from Gaza City. Before the war, she lived a peaceful, loving life with her husband and only daughter, Judy. They were happy. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter. Judy enjoyed the quiet joy of childhood, with dolls, books, and the security of home and family.

Then one day, it was all gone.

Bombs reduced everything the family owned—every memory, every room, every scrap of safety—to ash.

“Everything we had and everything we worked for was vaporized,” Abeer writes.

They were forced to flee Gaza City and evacuate to Al-Nuseirat. But the fear didn’t stop there. They lived in constant terror of losing one another. In desperation, Abeer left Gaza in search of safety for her daughter. But what they found was not peace, but another war: a psychological one, filled with grief, trauma, and instability.

Abeer is now asking for help to restore even a sliver of what was lost. She dreams of giving Judy a sense of normalcy again—a safe home, nourishing food, and a sense of security.

The almost total decimation of infrastructure in Gaza has left the family without a stable income.

Their only source of survival right now is their fundraiser and the kindness of strangers. With barely £726 raised out of a £70,000 goal, their campaign has stalled—receiving only one donation in the past two months.

Khalil urgently needs 3 rounds of treatment to combat the effects of his deteriorating liver and kidneys.

These organs perform vital functions in the body. The body cannot function without them. If Khalil does not receive emergency intervention soon, he will die!

As a consequence of 1) harsh and cramped living conditions imposed by the occupation, 2) being unable to afford treating the virus in a timely manner, and 3) her already weakened immune system, Ayla has once again contracted the same virus she had previously suffered. Her immune system is still compromised due to malnutrition, so she needs antiviral, antipyretic, and immune support treatments and supplies, and nutrition therapy in order to completely treat the virus and prevent its return. She has a very high fever, is unable to eat, and is suffering from muscle pain. Her symptoms are very painful and her mother is desperate to get her the treatment she needs!
