From out of the pages of a worn, tarnished book, the nameplate scuffed like most other Shadow magic artefacts, slips sheets of what seems to be scribbles? The pages are rough and scuffed, the edges torn. The ink bleeds, obscuring some of the words to unintelligible messes, but what is legible is in such beautifully rick cursive, itās hard to believe it was found in a book.
The book itself? A tome on Shadow magicās intricacies. The cover seems to have been scratched with initials, of which are obscured. In fact, some of the scuffs are from whay appears to be magic? Itās hard to tell.
The pages of the book are decently tidy and well kept despite the cover. The margins are crammed with notes and symbols, some drawings and doodles scattered between. Itās clear whoever owned this book before knew what they were doing.
But the pages⦠The pages now lying outside of their safe confines. They seemed almost like⦠a journal entry? How had this gotten in a book about Shadow Magic??

Recently, a new development has occurred. A new discovery. Shadow magicās intricacies related, of course. According to small-scale tests, when Shadow magic, and of course, subsequently Shadow objects, interact with Astral magic, it doesnāt negatively react, at least, not in the way they always tell you it will⦠The small concentrations of Shadow and Astral I used almost seemed to work in harmony! They circle each other so beautifully, and the display onlu ended because the Shadow magic was burning through the cover of the book I was selfishly using as a rest.
I simply HAVE to show Nā- this discovery. He mightnāt react well⦠But our debates on Shadow magic always go decently. And besides, this is a development in Astral magic, too!! Anyway, I have to get back to actually studying. - Eā
He almost didnāt notice the journal entry, searching through the many books he took from the archives in Valās house. It was just something he glazed his eye over, before its contents caught his attention.
Shadow magic⦠he was once tainted by it. He despised and feared it, worried it would take hold of him once again, like it did to his family. He wanted to help rid of it, or at least, stop it from hurting others.
This entry intrigued him⦠shadow and astral worked in harmony, not against each other. Perhaps⦠it was the key he was looking for.
āHey, have you seen this?ā Val handed Winston a different book. It was an old tome, with pages torn and damaged.
The drawing was of an old hourglass, with the shadow symbol clearly engraved into it. However the star at the bottom⦠it seemed to relate to astral.
āAn hourglass that can turn back timeā¦ā Val held the tone to her face, āā¦do you think the order of influence created it to ensure victory, by changing the past?ā
He paused for a moment. āIt seems like something they would doā¦ā
