Season 6 Finale Theory
What if Marinette gives up being Ladybug + the Guardian of the Miracle Box?
Think about it: this entire season has been pushing Marinette to her breaking point.
She's had to lie to the world. She knows that her biggest secret, her identity, is in danger. She lost her Grandpa. She almost lost her relationship with Adrien. And she can't confide in Alya or Luka about any of this.
Now we've seen that Lila is manipulating Marinette's family behind the scenes and that will come into play in the finale.
And also... Marinette lost against Hawk Moth. I think she's yet to fully reconcile with that. Hell, a lot of fandom is still trying to wrap their heads around the season 5 finale too. The person who hurt so much of Paris trying to get Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculous actually succeeded in doing so last-minute, and left Marinette with an even greater burden of trying to clean up his mess, on top of a whole new enemy to deal with.
Anyway, we've also seen Marinette trust Alya with a Kwagatama, and she's the only one who knows Ladybug's true identity, so it would make sense for her to become the new holder of Ladybug's miraculous if Ladybug is compromised. Which could definitely happen if Marinette gets akumatized again. And we see that Alya does in fact merge the Fox and Ladybug miraculous together at some point in an upcoming episode.
Not only that, but we've seen that Alya probably figures out the truth about Gabriel, and confronts Marinette about it. Which then eventually leads to Marinette ripping up a photo of the two of them? I wouldn't be surprised if Lila tries to capitalize on those emotions and akumatize her again.
Alya would also be in the perfect position to create an illusion of herself and Ladybug in order to cover up the fact that Ladybug is missing (if Marinette is akumatized) and in the meantime, fuse the two miraculouses elsewhere.
And since that would then be the second time that Marinette has been akumatized in one season, she might finally pull the trigger and tell Alya to pick someone else. Someone that Marinette doesn't know so that Lila can't get any information out of her.
Maybe... just maybe... Marinette will even tell Adrien who she really is before finally giving it all up for the safety of her family.
Imagine if season 7 was all about Adrien trying to reconcile with the fact that Marinette was Ladybug all along, but now she doesn't remember any of it. And he also has to cope with the fact that his father was Hawk Moth. What if Adrien also chooses to pass along the cat miraculous at some point? Or maybe... him learning that he can erase memories as Chat Noir might lead to him erasing his own memories, or possibly even Lila's memories of who she thinks Ladybug is if Lila ever comes out to confront them directly?
We'll just have to wait and see what happens! Either way, there are a ton of possibilities for the future of Miraculous Ladybug to get completely wild, if only the writers could commit to something so crazy/exciting!
