There was rarely something surprising about cultural and physical differences when meeting another species from other planets to Ratchet. It was not a first for him. Fluorite, however, certainly seemed to have significantly less experience in interacting with other species. So, he simply listened with an occasional nod.
  âDoctors,â he clarified, but otherwise did not interrupt.
   âMrhmâŚâ The references to purpose and being âmade forâ anything did not inspire the fondest associations, but Ratchet was not about to get into a lengthy and depressing background of said associations, especially in a first meeting.
  The last of her words caused him to blink, because that did surprise him. He did not expect the kind observation, and for several moments, he simply stared, unsure how to respond.
   â⌠Well, thank you.â That would have to suffice, he decided. âAnd I hope, regardless of hwat may be considered normal for your culture, you do not allow that to prevent you from pursuing your own interests or passions.â She had not mentioned having a designated purpose, but he felt the need to comment about it, just in case.
âYes, thatâs why I came all this way!â Visions of the desolate, colorless pits of Homeworldâs kindergarten gnaw at the back of her mind even now, kept at bay only by the novelty of meeting a fellow outsider to Earth (as well as her sustained curiosity about this precious little creature heâs swaddled in a shock blanket, something she still mistakenly believes was part of his body). Speaking of which...
âSay, do you have any friends here, or are you all alone? You can come back to the temple with me if you want; thereâs a warp pad just a few âmile markersâ away!â Rubbing her chin, she considers this further. âMm, heâs maybe too big though? No, noâ Iâve seen Sugilite use it before...â
While Garnet has proven herself a bit of a tough read, Fluorite already knows Pearl will give her the lambasting of a lifetime for bringing an unknown variable back to their home; Rose and Amethyst, however, would be thrilled, and from what Fluorite has seen Pearl always bends to Roseâs whimsâ a fact both she and Amethyst have used to their own advantages on more than one occasion.
âWell, we donât have to go there, of course! We could go to the Sky Arena instead, or the Lunar Sea Spire! Theyâre in pretty rough shape now, but I guess it has been thousands of years...â
