ITS ARTWORK - DARRYL VON DÄNIKEN

BIOGRAPHY

After studying Architecture in Brighton, Darryl became involved in entertainment management starting off during the 80’s acid house explosion. He has worked with the Ministry of Sound, the International Emmy’s, and tilllate.com, turning the latter into the world’s leading online nightlife portal in the late 90’s, whilst also championing Dance4Life.com, for which he remains an Ambassador today.

Today Darryl runs DnS Creative together with his wife Sabina Pesenti von Däniken, where they produce cultural event formats, including the International Radio Festival, the world’s first and only festival conference to celebrate the curation and business of music radio content.

OWN DEFINITION OF “FUTURE”

I love the future as it always reminds me of Oscar Wilde’s “The future belongs to those who recognise opportunities before they become obvious”.

And I love the future, because the future is neutral.

ITS JURY - CARLO GIORDANETTI

BIOGRAPHY

Carlo Giordanetti was named Creative Director of Swatch Ltd. in October 2012, responsible for a unified brand identity across product, communications and store design. He is also charged with developing The Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai as a strategic element of the overall brand program. He comes to Swatch from Montblanc (2007-2012), where he served as Creative Director for all product groups and achieved notable success. Previously, as Co-Founder and Creative Director of Brand DNA (2000-2007), he specialized in the development of branding concepts and brand (re)positioning in the luxury goods market. Mr. Giordanetti also brings extensive experience at Swatch to his new role. For ten years (1987-1992 and 1995-2000) he served in a variety of positions, including Vice President, Marketing, contributing actively to numerous projects involving art, brand-building events, new product development and the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. He was also a member of the team that founded both the Milan and New York design labs of Swatch. From 1992-1995 he  worked at Piaggio, makers of Vespa scooters, where he established a new retail concept and directed the company’s first international communications campaign. Carlo, who is 54 years old, has happily lived and worked in Milan, Florence, New York, Paris, Hamburg and Zurich.

ITS JURY - UMA WANG

BIOGRAPHY

Before launching her eponymous label in 2009, Uma Wang studied at China Textile University and Central Saint Martins. She also designed for Chinese labels for 10 years; where she developed her signature knitting techniques and defined her own style and aesthetic.

Since launching the brand, Uma Wang has received critical acclaim for her shows and presentations in Shanghai, London, Paris and Milan. Now she is the only Chinese designer who presents in Milan fashion week official schedule. She has become a leader in the Chinese fashion industry by consistently producing high-quality products and collections that always balance fashion with functionality. Uma Wang is particularly skilled in mixing and matching different fabrics and textures to create simple but strong garments with subtle detailing, and it is these unique abilities that has positioned her to become the first internationally successful Chinese designer.

International Talent Support – Jury members names revealed

Swatch named the members of a high-profile international jury whose task will be to select the winner of the ITS ARTWORK 2015 Award in partnership with Swatch, to be announced at the Finals of ITS 2015 in Trieste, Italy.

The jury is comprised of an eclectic group of persons active in a broad range of creative endeavors, from music to art and fashion. Each brings a unique perspective and opinion to the difficult task of choosing a winner.

Swatch is pleased to announce its partnership with International Talent Support.

ITS 2015 calls on young talents from the world’s leading fashion, jewelry and accessories schools to submit their best work in one or more of the following categories: ITS FASHION OTB Group, ITS JEWELRY Swarovski Crystals , ITS ACCESSORIES (YKK) and ITS ARTWORK.

JURY MEMBERS SELECT TRUE SWATCH VISIONARY: ITALY’S VIRGINIA BURLINA

At the International Talent Support event that took place in Trieste, Italy this weekend, ten ITS ARTWORK finalists representing six countries presented their Swatch-inspired creations to an eclectic panel of jury members. Following an energetic and crowd-pleasing fashion show through the centre of the ITS venue, winners of each category were declared.

Excitement builds in the run-up to the International Talent Support – ITS 2014 – event as Swatch reveals the names of its jury member.

The Swiss watch brand ramped up its involvement in the ITS event this year by creating a new category that challenges young designers and artists to present the brand as seen from their own eyes. 

Eight outstanding creative minds have been tasked with determining the ultimate Swatch visionary. The international jury members are:

Post-modern pop star Mika and his sister Yasmine Penniman, born in Beirut and raised in Paris and London, have been creating artwork and designing together for the past eleven years. In 2013, they created an eye-catching Swatch Art Special that has become a favorite of Swatch fans around the world. 

Gianluigi Colin is both an artist and the art director of “Corriere della Sera”. He lives and works in Milan and for many years has been involved in artistic research focused on the connection between images and word.

Sebastian Fischenich, born in Germany and now living in Switzerland, earned his diploma in design at the University of the Arts in Berlin after studying product and fashion design in Berlin and Utrecht, NL. In 2008, he created his own perfume brand, Humiecki & Graef, which he co-owns and supports as creative director. 

 Eva & Adele are contemporary artists based in Berlin whose work is exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe and around the globe. They claim to have landed their time machines in Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Wherever they are is a museum.

Juri Steiner is a Swiss curator who is incredibly active in the worlds of literature and the arts. He served as director of the Paul Klee Center in Bern for several years and was responsible for the re-launch of the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich.

Maria Eugenia Alberti from Spain is the publisher of Joyce Magazine, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015. She had previously been the first director of Vogue Spain and for 14 years she served as the director of Dunia’s Magazine, which played an important role for women in Spain in the late 1970s.

With ITS 2014 looming large on the horizon, Swatch has moved quickly to choose the finalists in the ITS Artwork contest and to name the international jury who will select the winner. The grand prize includes an internship at the Swatch Lab in Zurich, and for last year’s winner, working for Swatch is a dream come true. The ITS Artwork finalists have been selected! These young talents are now starting an artistic marathon that runs until the final selection and concluding award ceremony.

They have been asked to express their own particular vision of Swatch— a visual that knows neither limits nor boundaries, that is dimensional, intriguing and made of materials, images, pictures, drawings and words.

In the meantime, meet Milko Boyarov – the ITS 2013 Swatch winner, presenting his thoughts and sharing his inspiration.

Swatch is pleased to announce its partnership with International Talent Support, the leading showcase for young designer talent.

ITS 2014 calls on young talents from the world’s leading fashion, jewelry and accessories schools to submit their best work in one or more of three categories: ITS FASHION, ITS JEWELRY and ITS ACCESSORIES. The theme on which they will have to express themselves is “Lucid dreams”.

Swatch is now the main partner of the new category ITS ARTWORK. The ARTWORK is open to fashion, accessories and jewelry designers who have enrolled in one of the existing categories. After having shown their skills and technical knowledge on the theme “Lucid Dreams”, the young designers will be asked to set their creativity free on their interpretation of the “World” of Swatch. The winner will be offered an internship at the Swatch Group Creative Lab in Zürich.

Swatch will be represented by a jury composed of an eclectic set of personalities who will be revealed in a few weeks.
