And it was then I remembered:

Screams hissed over his head; distinct voices barely discernible as they wound through a complex maze of pipes to be refined into energy. The same energy, he reminded himself, that was behind the creation of his current project.

Fungus swallowed, nervously adjusting his glasses. Just because screams provided Monstropolis with its power didn’t mean he had to like them– and it certainly didn’t mean that he shouldn’t be freaked out when he was trapped down in a subterranean lab below them. Darting a glance toward his boss, he was unnerved to see that Randall appeared completely unfazed by the chilling noises. Maybe that was because Randall simply wasn’t scared of anything that wasn’t scarier than him.
