You met me at a very Chinese time in my life.

I was listening to one of my favorite songs by The Pixies called The Happening off of Bossanova. I had always found the outro to be so cryptically beautiful. I just stumbled across another song by them which is essentially a stripped down version of the outro called The Thing. For some reason when I was listening to it, my mind had some flashes of Pathar Panchali (1955) dir. Satyajit Ray. A classic Bengali film, it is the only part of the Apu trilogy that I have seen, and it is oh so heart-wrenching. The winding dirt path through the fields is one of the most charged reoccurring shots in the film. The main characters take this path past the limits of their poverty-striken world, representing some semblance of hope and even exile. While the frantic highway that the Pixies are probably taking to Vegas decades later is a stark contrast, I really feel that the presence of that reflective desire for something greater and unknown exists in both. As I sit here in the library in Berkeley filled with existential dread staring at my Ind Eng homework, I am feeling that same restlessness and pull of the uncertainty of the future. There really is so much more out there, yet I am stuck here for another 2 years. Anyways I will probably just listen to this song on repeat for the rest of the night.

#helloworld Just got a tumblr. Might be a little late to the game, but i just died my hair pink for breast cancer awareness month and some mid-2010s nostalgic longing took over me. I should be applying to some bullshit tech internships right now. Instead i am stalking people on RYM. Another site/app i am tapping in to. Just rated The Campfire Headphase by Boards of Canada. Gave it 3.5 stars. A guy I used to see was obsessed with these guys, but as beautiful as it is, it can honestly pass as background noise. Anyways, my laptop is about to die and i have no usb-c charger to power it ever since mine got stolen at a random club in Oakland last Thursday night. So this is me signing off to go bother some poor random human to borrow their things :)
