A sigh escapes their lips for what feels like the twentieth time tonight. Parties have never been particularly enjoyable (but a promise to an old colleague is a promise), hence why slender digits trail along the railing of the balcony they find refuge on for the time being. At least the noise and chatter between boring scholars about boring academia topics can be easier drowned out from this distance.

Staring out over the edge, Adrian appears to be calculating just how far of a jump to the bottom it might be . . . until the sound of footsteps catches their attention just in time. They turn towards the source and expression softens with a look of pleasant surprise. Because he said he couldn't be here, nor is he supposed to be.

But here he is anyway and Adrian can't help moving to meet him halfway and throw their arms around him in a big hug. A hug that somehow turns to being hoisted up into his arms, florist laughing softly as their arms settle around Blade's shoulders.

"…Hmph. Does that make you my damsel in distress?" Blade rumbles, a twitch at the corner of his lip betraying his mild amusement. "You don't seem very miserable," he just about croons at them, his voice lowering as he bows his head toward them. "You've been here all evening."
