Somehow the city seems much smaller late at night. Their paths cross for the second time within the past few hours, except the first had been more or less a passing glance; the knowing gaze of another inhuman passing as human among the crowd.

Now his presence looms beside them as they stand at the edge of the sidewalk, attention shifting first to the shadow he casts beneath the streetlights, the uncanny way it seemed to move in the corner of their eye. But it stops just as quickly as it starts, so they turn to its owner. Rather than meet his gaze they take in his appearance with a quick glance over. He's dressed for a night out, just as they are, angel donning a little black dress and heels. Simple, flattering, inconspicuous.

Before they even have a chance to think of something clever to say, the ground leaves from beneath their feet with a sharp breath. Blinking up at James who's suddenly a little too close, his touch a little too familiar, it takes a moment to register they've been scooped up into his arms and even longer to realize the puddle of rainwater that gathered earlier along the street below — precisely where they intended to walk.

Adrian grows up in an orphanage. Their closest friend falls ill with an incurable disease that Adrian accidentally cures

Becoming an emanator at a young age, Adrian is taken by a team of scientists to live in a facility where they're studied and experimented on for the sake of revolutionizing medicine

While there, they encounter other test subjects of various ages. Eventually the small group uses their powers to escape. One of those test subjects is Marie, a young woman who grows fond of little Adrian and decides to adopt them, moving them away to another planet

From age ten, they return to a life of normalcy. Marie adopts other children and their home and family grows. It takes a lot of work and healing but as they grow older Adrian decides to pursue medicine as a profession, deciding of their own free will to use their powers to help others in need of it

It isn't until years later, shortly after House of Blossoms is established, where Adrian encounters Francis during a trip to a new city. They hear his call for help and after tracking the source to a lab, they don't hesitate to destroy it and rescue the then little flower, given their own history with experimentation
