“Welcome, oh and here are some of your items back. Sorry I didn’t know you would interview me and you seem nice.” *hands over several misfit items.*
Susuko sat in her Ishgard room, on her bed staring at the heater that flickered with a fiery blaze. The flames licked the air and crackled as the wood shifted and fell, throwing tiny sparks into her view, the sound of kids talking could be heard as faint echoes in her mind as they gathered around an open hearth. “Susuko...” A voice faintly called out, “Susuko...” The voice got louder, “Susuko!” Susuko jumped as a hand was placed on her shoulder, she looked to her right and saw a Hyur woman standing there, dressed in a long smock, a caretaker, “Susuko why not get closer to the fire? You look cold dear.” The woman said with a soft smile. Susuko made an ‘hmph’ noise as she looked away back towards to the hearth where all the other kids were sitting.
One Hyur boy looked up and had a taunting grin on his face, “She’s scared of the fire, that’s why she won’t come near it. She’s been like that for a year now, no matter how cold it gets she refuses to get near the hearth.” The boy got up quickly and rushed over to Susuko, grabbing her hand and pulling her closer to the hearth, “Come on and get closer.” The boy’s tone wasn’t playful at all, it was a teasing tone. Susuko snapped her hand back, glaring at the boy before shoving this child who was taller than her back. He growled as Susuko had started to walk away back to the room where all the children slept, “Leave me ALONE!” She shouted as the woman caretaker who was standing by stopped the boy from running after Susuko a disappointed look on her face. Susuko sat on her bed wrapped in blankets, the several heaters that were spread through the room were lit, trying to keep the huge room warm.
As Susuko sat she thought back to that night of the Calamity, the fire that rose from her home and the sudden collapse of the roof, all to be interrupted by a knock on her door, stirring Susuko from thoughts of her past, “One second!” She shouted as she hopped up giving the heater a glance as she walked by and opened the door, looking up expecting her company weaver friend. “Whoopsh…I-I thik I have the w-wrong room –hic-.” It seems a drunken Ishgardian had stumbled upon her door, “Yeah. Ya do.” Susuko said as she glared at the man with a straight face, not amused by his drunken mistake. The man blinked at her a few times before turning and wobbling off, Susuko let out a sigh before her eyes shot back up to the drunken man, an idea in her head, “Hey mister!” She called out as the man stopped and turned to look at her, “Want to buy a blanket? Makes free booze as you sleep with it!” She chuckled as the man’s eyes lit up, “A blanket that makesh boozesh? Hellsh yeah!” The man came back as Susuko chuckled to herself, “It’s only a handful of gil, how much you have on ya?” She sneakily said as the man began to rummage through his pockets. Susuko looked down the hallway for anyone coming as the man lifted out a small coin purse, “I have thish.” He dropped it into Susuko’s little hands, “That’s enough. Here.” She reached over and got an old blanket handing it to the man, “Your booze making blanket.” The man took it from Susuko, the look on his face was that of a drunk child as he held it up and it unfolded, “Now, go get some sleep.” Susuko said with glee as the man stumbled away with a smile from ear to ear, “I will –hic-!”
Distant whispers could be heard past a near closed door, “None of her blood relatives will take her. If we can’t get any of them to take her then she’ll go into the orphanage.” Spoke one voice softly, while another retaliated, “I will continue trying, but when I mentioned who she was…that seemed to cause a lot of tension.” The two voices continued to converse as Susuko sat in a chair in a little empty room, clutching onto a small charred little doll that was pulled from the fiery remains of her home. “Did they ever find the bodies?” The same two voices were still conversing, “No, the Blades think they were burnt up, poor thing, for something to happen to one so young.” Susuko heard a chair move and footsteps approach from behind the door before it opened and she was staring up at a female Hyur. She gripped her doll harder, “Is Mama and Papa okay? Where are Mama and Papa?!” Susuko said with worry in her voice, the Hyur, kneeled down and patted Susuko on the head, “Sweet child…” the Hyur paused thinking about the words to use to explain to this poor and lonely child what had taken place, “They…t-they aren’t coming back. They are with Oschon now.” The Hyur’s hand patted the little Susuko’s knee as her eyes began to tear up, “I want Mama and papa back…I WANT MAMA AND PAPA BACK!” Tears ran down Susuko’s cheeks as she cried out, the Hyur wrapped her arms around Susuko holding her close, and spoke in a quiet and calm voice, “Shhh, mommy and daddy aren’t going to show sweetie.” Susuko cried into the Hyur’s shoulder eventually passing out.
Susuko awoke again in her Ishgard bed chamber to sound of someone knocking on her door, “Yes..yes I’m coming.” She threw herself out of the bed and wrapped a robe around her as she walked towards the door. Upon opening it was her FC issued weaver, “Ma’am I wanted you to know that it is midday and you are still sleeping when we have profit to make. Also, Blue will be meeting you soon to hear your report.” Susuko’s eyes went wide upon hearing this, “Shyte…shyte…shyte, um okay wait for me at the tavern’s bar, I will be down shortly.” The weaver nodded her head and briskly walks off as Susuko closes the door and begins to get dressed. She hops around the room fighting with her clothes. Finally getting dressed, she grabs her change bag off the table and walks towards the door, “Let’s see if I can sucker more people into buying blankets today.” She chuckled as she stepped out of her room and closed the door behind her.
“It’s so cold…” Susuko shivered as she rubbed her gloved hands together and watched the smoke from her breath disappear against the sky. The streets of Ishgard were bustling as usual during the midday, noble Elezen walking from one shop to the next, “I do say, little one, what is it you are selling?” A tall Elezen man with white hair had approached Susuko’s booth of “Eastern” made blankets, he looked down at her with a ‘higher than thou’ look and adjusted his monocle. Susuko rolled her eyes in her mind before putting on a smile, “I’m selling blankets, made in the Eastern regions of the world! Not only will it keep you warm, but it is also a good conversation starter when your noble friends notice the exotic-ness of it during the get togethers.” Susuko pats one of her blankets that had been folded so the design on the blanket itself could be seen a bit; the Elezen seemed to take interest in her wares, probably only cause of hearing the word exotic. “One of a kind, handmade and I know this for I have witnessed it being made myself.”
One of a kind was a lie, the blankets being from the East was also a lie, however them being handmade was not, so there was some truth in her words. Susuko smiled at the man, “I can guarantee this is high quality crafting. How can you pass up something like that? Surely a man of your tastes, caliber, and nobility would like to own an authentic blanket from the East?” This was the hook line, if Susuko couldn’t get someone who saw themselves superior to anyone else with that hook, then you might as well forget they even stopped by. “Ho ho ho, I say you do have a point little one. With me being a collector of such things, to own such an exclusive item from the East would defiantly add to my collection. How much is it?” The Elezen man rustled through his coat pocket bringing out a small leather pouch, “The blanket is two-hundred gil and you can pick the design you wish to have.” Susuko brought out three more blankets, each with a different color scheme and design, “My word…they all look pretty and elegant. Hmm.”
The Elezen man placed a finger to his chin as he looked at each blanket before Susuko spoke up again, “Tell ya what, you seem like a man that would like all of them. You buy the lot, I will cut the price in half, one hundred gil each.” The man gasped as his monocle nearly fell off his cheek, “Half you say?! Why I’ll take them all!” He threw the pouch down to Susuko. She caught it and looked inside there was a little more than four hundred gil in the the pouch, “Sir, you want this change?” She wiggled the pouch about as the Elezen man shook his head, “Dear no, keep it, you look as if you could use it.” Susuko looked displeased with that response, but she smiled and pocketed the pouch, “Enjoy your collection of Eastern blankets sir.” She said happily as she stacked them up and handed them to the Elezen, watching him walk away with a bounce in his step. “Sucker.” Susuko chuckled as she began to walk in the opposite direction back to the Ishgard inn room she was stationed to by her Free Company.

Susuko watched in amazement, her tiny eyes taking in the awesome sight of the fiend known as Bahamut as he broke free of his bindings, making her jump as the sound reached even as far as Ul’dah. A young Susuko unknowing of the disaster that is about to take place is enjoying the light show going on in the distance. Susuko’s father grabs her wrists, “Come Desert lily, we need to get inside where it is safe!” her father beckoned in a panic as he pulled her inside and shuts the door behind them, a few moments later a ginormous explosion happened and Susuko felt the ground tremble below her, scared about what was going on, everything suddenly seemed to be playing in slow motion as she watched her father shout something at her and suddenly…darkness. Susuko awoke to her father’s voice and the sound of rubble being moved, “SUSUKO! SUSUKO!” She saw her father and mother trying desperately to lift something before the awareness kicked in and she felt the heat that licked her face, realizing their house had been set aflame while she herself was trapped under a partial slab of ceiling. “Papa, it hurts.” She cried out as her father panicked struggling to lift the debris, “Don’t worry honey we’ll get you out of there. Just hold on.” Her father and mother, after much struggling finally succeeded in helping Susuko out, but her father got himself injured in doing so, “Go Susuko…run outside to safety we’ll be right behind you… GO NOW!” Her mother yelled as she tended to her husband and in a panic, Susuko turned running out the door, she stopped and turned a few fulms out watching intently for her mother and father to exit. The pain of the burns were ignored, her heartbeat echoed in her ears as she watched the door, eyes beginning to widen in fear and as she started to run forward back to the house, the rest of it collapsed inward. Little Susuko was alone as tears ran down her cheeks, she fell to her knees and a scream echoed with others into the Ul’dah night sky.
“MAMA!! PAPA!! MAMA!! PAPAAAAA!!” Susuko shouted before she sat up breathing heavily, sweat covered her body as she panted and looked around the room she was in, once she got her bearings she began to cry. Another nightmare, her body shook remembering that night and she quickly tried to calm down, as small drops of water fell onto her blanket, she wipes her eyes before hopping out of bed and lighting a small candle on a nearby night stand. She shivered and sniffled, “Stupid Ishgard…being all cold and shyte.” Somehow her room’s heater had burned out, she walked over and threw a few more logs into it before lighting it again. There was a sudden knock on the door which made Susuko jump again, “Are you alright m’lady?” Susuko’s weaving helper that was issued to her by the Company leader had apparently heard her scream, “I’m fine, you can go back to your room, it was just a nightmare.” Susuko shouted through the door, the helper quickly answered, “Yes, m’lady.” Susuko sighed, “I’ve told her to stop calling me that.” She murmured under her breath and walked back to her bed staring at it for a bit before climbing into it, she threw the fur blankets over her and hesitated to lay down, but soon the heaviness of her eyelids caught up with her and as her head hit the chocobo down pillow she was out.
