It's been a while, and I'm kind of back with a brand new piece - BG3 is still an inspiration for me so I created this piece (my very first scene) of Underdark landscape in Blender 3D and corrected it afterwards in CSP with some little effects.

Why would a Durge have nightmares?

In the darkness, a heavy press bears down on her chest. Somewhere deep in the back of her skull, consciousness begins to stir, and the first thing it can feel is suffocation.

As her senses awaken, fear awakens the first — and suddenly she was falling into an abyss with a train hurtling straight toward her face.

The first impression from the depths of the dark sharpens in a second, and she reaches for her first breath. She tries to draw in air —not possible. In panic, the brain spasms, sending an urgent command to seize every bit of oxygen available. The mute nervous column throbs; it cannot scream, and suffers because of it.

She snapped her eyes open, but could see nothing. Every time Bhaal took her into his arms at night, she went blind for the duration of the seizure.

Falling asleep even in the sweetest embrace after countless killings in Bhaal’s name, she was always destined to wake to the heaviest, deepest nightmares and bouts of night paralysis.

She knew her father wanted to torment her — especially when the evening had been pleasant. He could never allow her to keep for herself even the faintest hint of joy.

“You must be terrified every morning, until you see it dawn in blood, my child.”
