Hi! It's been a long time!

I wanted to share what I've been up to over the years. In 2022, I decided to step away from soundtrack work to start a label called Infloresce Records. This project has meant a lot to me because it's given me the freedom to make the gentle yet enthralling kind of music that I love.

Reposting a Twitter thread I just made because it’s got a lot of thoughts I’ve had stuck in my head lately:

I don’t have a fully-formed version of these thoughts, but I think what a lot of artist are asking when they say “where will we go after twitter” is actually asking “where are all of the normal people going to end up?” I can name a half-dozen sites that are ready and waiting for more artists to come flooding onto their platform. I’m sure there are just as many for writers, musicians, filmmakers, everything else. The actual question everyone needs an answer to is where is the AUDIENCE going.

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:

I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.

Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.

A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)

I attended the wonderful charity stream for aivi & surasshu’s first anniversary of their label Infloresce, benefiting Chattanooga Trans Liberation Collective. It was a lovely time and included many special guest appearances, including (of special interest to some of my blog readers) Rebecca Sugar and Jeff Ball of Steven Universe fame and aivi & surasshu themselves. Now that there is a video on demand to watch, I will share with you all the time codes for various parts. It’s twelve hours long so it’s really hard to find your favorite parts without a playlist! Someone else probably has a more high-tech way of compiling this but here’s my manual compilation (hope all the links work).
