I've thinking about her a lot these past few days. I've thinking about this last photoshoot. The windblown hair, the quiet vulnerability, how she was surrounded by light. A century of such a beautiful soul. Who deserved so much, yet demanded so little. Who desired happiness, yet left with so many unfulfilled dreams.

Ever since middle school, I have felt such a pull to her for reasons unbeknownst to me. Maybe it's the quiet longing for something more that helps me understand the look behind her eyes. Maybe it's the underlining sense of melancholy that I notice in both of our souls.

I love these images in particular because they feel so real. I love the soft joy in her eyes, the simplicity of her smile, the warmth of the sweater (that I need a modern dupe of), and the towel being used as a wardrobe piece because her body is the least compelling thing about her. I hope that wherever she may be right now, it is as peaceful as Santa Monica Beach on July 13, 1962. Happy 100th Birthday, Marilyn.

1. JAMES DEANNN. I’d marry this man in a second. I think Marlon Brando’s also really attractive and I love some of his films but he was also very toxic. A toxicity I don’t need in my life lol.

2. Vivien Leigh. I don’t really know too much about Veronica Lake (even though I love seeing photographs of her. She’s stunning.) I loved Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind. I loved Vivien Leigh in a Streetcar Named Desire. So I have to pick her.

3. June Juanico. I loved her book. In another universe, they end up together forever.

4. 50s Elvis. A bit closer to my age and is an absolute cutie. Omg.

5. Milkshakes. Chocolate to be more specific. I don’t drink Soda so I don’t think that I’d enjoy a float.

6. Socks Hops because I love vintage music.

7. Drive Ins. You get food, a vintage film, and can potentially get made out with in your boyfriend’s Cadillac? Sign me up.
