I had lunch at Kaluz in Fort Lauderdale Sunday. I was with a few friends, and the hostess was was walking us to our booth. We rounded a corner of the establishment and there was sitting the most gorgeous older man I have ever seen. And one of those moments happened... you know the kind I am referring to, right? You see someone and you immediately realize your attraction, and then you also notice they have that same look of wander lust in their eyes. Well, I couldn’t have planned my seating arrangement any better. I had a clear view of him as he did of me. We exchanged smiling glances several times throughout our meals, and then he excused himself from the table to go to the restroom. I really wanted to follow him, but my sense of excitement got the better of me and I froze in my seat. He made his way back to his table and he really gave me a good long look on his way back, as if to say, “you missed out on an opportunity by not following me out”... talk about adding insult to injury. We continued our flirting glances for the remainder of his meal. They of course were much further along in their dining experience than we were so it was no surprise when they paid their check and got up to leave. He stood with his hands on the back of his chair for what seemed like a few minutes as his fellow lunch mates walked towards the front, and then he gave me one last look as he made his way to the door. I watched him round the corner, and then in hopes of one last chance, I excused my self from my friends and made my way to the bathroom which was located near the front door of the restaurant. I was hoping I could at least catch his attention one last time... however, he had just stepped outside and was making his way to the valet attendant to retrieve his vehicle. I watched out the window momentarily and then made my way to the bathroom and back to join my friends... never to see him again I suppose.
A not so familiar song came to mind that was done by David Nail... strangers on a train. I know we were not on a train, but the context was much the same.

This is one day later, and I can’t shake the exchange from my mind. I’m sure time will pass and I will forget, but for now I don’t want to. In fact I long for it to happen again... Maybe fate can align the stars again?
