He grabbed the file, and opened it. “where did you get this Jack?”. indeed it was solved. the guy named Michael Castella was guilty, there was not doubt. After a few long minutes, he spoke “what is it you want? money?” 

“come to visit to my station one of these days and we’ll have a chitchat.” he said slapping jack’s shoulder, and walking out of his room. “oh, and don’t forget the item 8234.” 

“you take cases that the police will not investigate. you’re a chancer.” he said clearing his voice. “you were good Jack. a fine guard...but now...well.” he stood up of his chair and walked towards Jack, placing a hand on his shoulder. “look laddie, the senator knows how you work. please, don’t waste this chance. make an effort eh?”

“are you bloody deaf or what? i said she was not the senator’s daughter.” he grabbed a chair and kicked a couple of empty beer cans that were on the floor. “that means, that you still have one last shot in this case.” he sat down and crossed his arms staring at Jack. “jesus, you look fucked. what happened to you?”

“stop actin’ the maggot, would ye?” he glanced at his eyes. “jesus christ, your pupils are like shark eyes!” he shooked his head. “Taylor....taylor...don’t you realize how easy is to put your arse in prison??” he cleared his voice and started to pacing up the room. “that girl, was not our girl.”

“For your sake, I hope not” he said with his hands behind his back. “where the hell were you?! i guess you heard about the girl?”
