the whole place still looks like a mess. well, less messy than it did 18 hours ago when the earthquake hit, but it still looks like one of those shitty dive bars in the middle of nowhere – which willow’s watering hole absolutely wasn’t! (or so the manager would argue)
if you asked asher, he would proudly brag that he has been solely responsible for keeping the place in order. in truth, he just hung around watching people do stuff and pretended he was helping when someone looked at him. which, obviously, didn’t mean he wasn’t exhausted from all this pretending to work. he hadn’t left the bar since last night, under a very vigorous threat from his boss that if he didn’t stay and help clean up, he would lose his job. and since that was the only place in town that worked for someone with his condition, he figured he should stay. he doesn’t need sleep anymore, anyway… still! looking pretty and being on the lookout for when people are watching you fake clean is very hard, tiring work!
but his moody temperament gets a quick fix when he senses jack walk through the door. like a shot of espresso, bittersweet and intense, her scent warns him of her arrival before he even has to turn around.
this whole heightened senses thing is a pretty neat trick, isn't it?
from behind the bar, he greets her with a smirk, swift hands reaching for a bottle and pouring a shot of blood-infused whisky into a glass. “don’t mind the mess.” he sets the drink before her. on the house – as always. “big earthquake last night. don’t know if you heard.”
in his blissful innocence, asher – who only knew the witches were performing a ritual ‘halloween in june?’, he joked to a coworker who didn’t break a single chuckle – thinks they just partied a little too hard or something. his newbie-vampire mind would never even fathom the possibility that they might have awakened vengeful-demon-ghost-which-spirits. so, after a short-lived scare, he quickly went back to tending to his little life.
