Hi Iβd join as a writer if the word minimum was 10k btw, I can write 20k but I donβt want to bloat my piece just to meet the word count if its natural cutoff is before then (like 15k). I know you addressed this previously, I just wanted to put this out there since I saw you had a lot more artists than writers sign up so that could be a middle ground if other writers are hung up on the word count as well
Definitely fair to want your piece to be conveyed in the manner that best suits the story you want to tell!! Adding extra words to meet a word count when it doesn't add value just makes for a boring fic (or a badly done essay, according to one of my old English teachers π)
However, this is a Big Bang event, a challenge specifically designed to encourage long-form content. Dropping the word count defeats the purpose of the challenge and the concept, so this particular blog and version of a Big Bang won't be changing our word count minimum β€οΈ
Haha, and besides - we're not very worried about the ratios being uneven when they're weighted towards the artists. It just means more opportunities for the artists to be able to draw a piece for the fic idea they like most π₯°
End of the road, Superfam fans! Sign ups close in 24 hours. After that? Who knows! The only sure thing will be some awesome Superfam content posted next March.

We normally post for pinch hitters in January, if they're necessary! However, because the bang has unequal writers to artists (6:15 at the moment, similar to last year :) we don't normally need pinch hits.

Hi guys, love this whole idea. I'm a writer and I'd love to write something for the bb, but I have a question, is the 20k minimum limit flexible in any way? I'd love to participate. But I'm a pretty slow writer, I don't think I'd manage to write that big of a story in time. Are you not accepting short fics at all? Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from ya! :)

While the mods of the Superfam Big Bang are (hopefully!) going to do a reverse bang for the Superfam with a smaller word count in the future, a Big Bang is for longer projects - which is why it has a longer timeframe, too. As a result, 20k is our definitive aim.
20,000 words in 6 months is about 110 words a day - and an event like this is less about speed and more about sustainability :)
Otherwise you're more than welcome to prep your project for sign ups next year!

Hi! I was wondering what kinda art is allowed for the bang! Is it just traditional art or can we create moodboards and manips and such?

We have an overview of the art expectations in the SFBB FAQ (mobile link). The basic gist is that moodboards or manips are absolutely considered art for our standards! But that we expect more than just one per project ('cause you're not making them from scratch).
