Wanted to cross Miguel over with Control - the colours just work so well

I cannot tell you how much it makes me to start drawing again just to be able to learn how to do that in the future.

It is!! Although not entirely - its a mix of cg, paintovers and hand drawn frames if the first movie is anything to go by

I wouldn't be surprised if they traditionally animated a couple shots in 2D to use as a reference either - getting 3D characters to keep the impact and fluidity of motion in the same way as traditional is hard. Spiderverse just gets more impressive when you factor in how much they're leaning into forced perspective for their action (thats something that usually requires breaking the rig to comical extents - I have a hunch that if you rotate the camera 90° in any shot where Miguel especially is running at the screen, he's probably stretched out like a noodle) and countless other things

Highly recommend going through some of the ATSV TV spots frame by frame - saw this incredible little detail while grabbing suit references (Miguel puts away his claws just before he misses Miles)
