Maekar decides to arrange a political marriage between Aerion and Duncan Stark. It was Baelor's idea, but he had considered it himself. To say his son disliked the idea would be an understatement. Aerion is behaving twice as badly as usual, though it would seem far worse. He is determined to tear this northern lord to pieces. And he will make his father regret his decision. Maekar already regrets it, but he, too, is too stubborn to back down. He punishes Aerion and threatens to exile him to Lys for disobedience. When Duncan Stark arrives, a feast is held, and Aerion is brought in only halfway through the celebration. He is sad and broken by his father's words and too stubborn because of his wounded pride. He plans to attack Stark and go to damned Lys. Maekar knows his son, and he is on guard. So is Baelor, who is ready to take action. And then Aerion's gaze catches his eye, Duncan Stark. Well, haha, plans change lol. He'll definitely marry Duncan. Anything for his family and his father. He'll take on the burden of this huge, strong body.

Except now, they’re paranoid cause they think Aerion’s trying to get in their head and that means Dunk is very much in grave imminent danger and so shenanigans start with Maekar and Baelor trying to do everything they can to stop the wedding while Aerion and Duncan live out their rom com dreams.
