Himari Azusawa

- The youngest and only daughter of the legendary musicians An Shiraishi and Kohane Azusawa. Her speaking intonation is very flat, but her singing voice is extremely powerful and expressive. She’s hard working, serious and dedicated to surpass Rad Blast with her brother, an event nobody has been able to surpass in the thirty (ish) years since it happened.

- Design notes and changes: She got more melanin!! She is half Vietnamese and half Cambodian like me because she and her brother are my faves and I can do what I want! I also added more stars to her hair in ref to An. Her pink streaks and highlights are also references to Kohane, who has pink streaks when she’s older. Himari wants to follow in their footsteps, so her design reflects that. I took away her bows :( but it’s because bows and ribbons are a major motif in a different group! And she got new shoes bcuz I never think of shoes…

Haruo Azusawa

- The eldest and only son of An and Kohane! Like Himari, he wants to surpass Rad Blast. He’s the more sociable of the two, and he’s known for the variation and range in his singing voice. He’s charismatic, cheeky and confident.

- Design notes and changes: Same melanin note from Himari! Get tanned! I also added more pins and patches to his denim jacket, since pin collecting is one of his hobbies. Like Himari, he has a lot of references to his moms in his design. I also made his outfit baggier. My thought process was that he and the rest of them have big shoes to fill, so this clothes are still a bit too big on him. Also I made his clothes darker and more saturated since idk the pastels just weren’t the vibe I wanted to give off

Mitsuko Fukuhara

- A famous idol who never quite fit in with her group. She’s the dancer of her group and known for her cuteness, but she’s started to feel dissatisfied with her work and can feel herself losing the passion she once had for music. This changes when she hears a new, beautiful voice coming from WEEKEND GARAGE. Mitsuko is bubbly and very enthusiastic, and once she feels her passion firing up again, her resolve and work ethic is unmatched.

- Design notes and changes: I didn’t mean anything by switching her bang that just happened. I also did some color adjustments and slight alterations to her outfit since idk the balance of the first one just felt slightly off to me. I think she looks more stylish now!

Takehiko “Luke” Murphy

- At school, Takehiko is the perfect honors student. But on Vivid Street, Takehiko goes by their middle name, Luke. Luke has been Himari and Haruo’s (mostly Haruo’s) rival for a while, and he’s known by the young musicians on Vivid Street as…a smug, condescending asshole. But no matter how much Luke pisses people off, nobody can deny their power as a performer. Luke also wants to surpass Rad Blast, and he doesn’t like people who can treat a dream like that so flippantly.

- Design notes and changes: Takehiko was originally wasian (White American and Japanese) BUT now he is blasian!! Him being black adds some levels of complexity to his backstory and character that I really want to explore. But other than changing his hair texture and skin tone his outfit stayed basically the same.
