My mood for 2019
Flip your phone upside down
worth it
Iām high rn and I just experienced pure joy
This father consoling his baby son at the doctorās office is SO CUTE ššš
Awwwwwššš
This father is doing SO much more than consoling his infant son ā¦
⢠this father is showing up as a pillar of safety; heās told his son he acknowledges and believes in the boyās strength.
⢠the father is completely present and accepting of his sonās story and helps him tell it. When the son recognizes that his father was fully present and heard the story of his experience of pain, the boy calms completely.
This piece of video will now be at the very top of my teaching tools when training parents and caretakers to work with shock and trauma in infants. Itās one of the finest examples of exemplary parenting I have ever seen in my 35-year healing career. ā¤ļø

āQueerness, to me, is about far more than homosexual attraction. Itās about a willingness to see all other taboos broken down. Sure, many of us start on this path when we first feel āsame sexā or āsame genderā attraction (though what is sex? And what is gender? And does anyone really have the same sex or gender as anyone else?). But queerness doesnāt stop there. This is a somewhat controversial stance, but to me queer means something completely different than āgayā or ālesbianā or ābisexual.ā A queer person is usually someone who has come to a non-binary view of gender, who recognizes the validity of all trans identities, and who, given this understanding of infinite gender possibilities, finds it hard to define their sexuality any longer in a gender-based way. Queer people understand and support non-monogamy even if they do not engage in it themselves. They can grok being asexual or aromantic. (What does sex have to do with love, or love with sex, necessarily?) A queer can view promiscuous (protected) public bathhouse sex with strangers and complete abstinence as equally healthy. Queers understand that people have different relationships to their bodies. We get what it means to be stone. We know what body dysphoria is about. We understand that not everyone likes to get touched the same way or to get touched at all. We realize that people with disabilities may have different sexual needs, and that people with survivor histories often have sexual triggers. We can negotiate safe and creative ways to be intimate with people with HIV/AIDs and other STIs. Queers understand the range of power and sensation and the diversity of sexual dynamics. We are tops and bottoms, doms and subs, sadists and masochists and sadomasochists, versatiles and switches. We know what we like and donāt like in bed. We embrace a wide range of relationship types. We can be partners, lovers, friends with benefits, platonic sweethearts, chosen family. We can have very different dynamics with different people, often all at once. We donāt expect one person to be able to fulfill all our diverse needs, fantasies and ideals indefinitely. Because our views on relationships, sex, gender, love, bodies, and family are so unconventional, we are of necessity anti-assimilationist. Because under the kyriarchy we suffer, and watch the people we love suffering, we are political. Because we want to survive, we fight. We only want the freedom to be ourselves, love ourselves, love each other, and live together. Because we are routinely denied that, we are pissed. Queer doesnāt mean ādonāt label me,ā it means āI am naming myself.ā It means āask me more questions if youāre curiousā¦āā

What Queerness Means To Me « Tranarchism (via docasaur)
Iāve chosen this as one of my first posts as itās important to me that people understand what Iām talking about when I use the term queer. Ā

KIRK FRANKLIN āSTOMPā Is The CHURCH VERSION Of āKNUCK IF YOU BUCKā..Lmao šššššššššššššššššššššš
So is Revolution, Wipe Me Down remix then?
Omg I really don't want this to sound weird but YOURE BACK! Yay! Sorry if that was weird but I always smiled when I saw you on my dash :) I always thought people just slowly drifted away from Tumblr activity but your posting! <3
šššI'm unsure of when you sent this but this is really nice to hear. I don't come onto Tumblr often but when I do, it's a reminder of how much this platform meant to me throughout my teens! And now I feel old lol. But thank you for the note. šš¾
is there a word forĀ āi was instantly good at a lot of things as a quote-unquote gifted child, and, as a result, i was able to skate by without ever being taught how to actually learn a new skill, and now that iām an adult trying to learn new things that i canāt be good at instantaneously, i donāt have the patience or knowledge to improve on them, because skills that donāt come naturally to me just make me angry because i lived off instant gratification my whole childhood due to not ever being challenged intellectually or taught basic learning skills?ā asking for a friend
people like this piss me the fuck off
why does everyone refuse to consider the possibility that maybe an education system designed from the ground up to turn intelligent and creative children into mindlessly efficient factory drones might have a negative effect on the people it deems (correctly or not; usually not) to be more intelligent and creative than average?
we were punished for ālearning too fastā by having the lessons about how to learn taken away from us, and by couching it all in positive language so that our peers would resent and isolate us. literally all of us know weāre not better than anyone else, but that doesnāt seem to matter in the face ofĀ āi was jealous in elementary school and have held on to that for 15+ years.ā
when we say things likeĀ āi donāt know how to learn things that i donāt immediately understandā you hearĀ āi was that kid you hated because i never studied but i always got a 100% on the test anyway,ā but what we mean is:
i have a vague understanding of what a flash card is, but no idea how to make them or what to do with them
i have literally no idea how to take notes because:
i donāt know what iāll forget if i donāt write it down
i donāt know how to pay attention to whatās being said while i write
i wouldnāt know what to do with the notes anyway
if i donāt understand something, i donāt know how to formulate a question
i donāt know how to recognize when i donāt know something until it goes wrong, at which point i donāt know how to identify what i did wrong
i canāt tell the difference between a mistake thatās part of the learning process and a mistake where i should know better
but yeah, if we ever acknowledge any of this, weāre definitely just being ungrateful whiners who donāt realize how good we had it when we were 7

This Gorgeous Photo Series Crushes Stereotypes About Black Masculinity
Loftin shot the photo series after seeing the stark contrast between the Google results for āblack boy in hoodieā and āwhite boy in hoodie.ā
In contrast to the images of black men depicted in the Google image search, Loftinās poses are sweet, affectionate, and sometimes silly.
āBlack people, and black men specifically, exist outside of the stereotypes that have been created for us by the media and those that control it,ā he told.
Source
They always portray us as dangerous thugs in black hoodies, nothing new. And the fact that whites still believe that black people are dangerous to them proves just how ingrained white supremacism is in this country!
This man just wanted to say that racism is still a reality we have to deal with. Inferential racism certainly wonāt go away by no one talking about it. We have to accept that there is a serious problem in America, that many white Americans are raised with these subtle cues all around them telling them to āfear blacksā.
Stop making up false stories about us, we are just people, just a little darker.
