1. Trapt - Echo

"Headstrong" was big, but this song was the best I heard ever from them, reconnected with this couple months ago and sampled it 3 times already. Lead Singer's name is Chris Brown!

Man Room On Fire is my favorite album or top 5 ever, this song was def perfect video perfect this is best shit ever whole album when u in that mood!

5. Fuel - "Shimmer"

It was either this or Sugarcult's "Pretty Girl" this song got too much beauty and was listened too alot in those times. 2002 & 3 and 4 forever 2002 to 2004 was perfect. Fuel.

6. Cam'ron - Come See Killa

LEO G AND MISS KITTY THE DJ's OF RAW66 MADE ME LOVE THIS THEY BROUGHT IT BACK A MILLION TIMES EVERYTIME THEY PLAYED THIS. Camron was on a roll in 08 this shit and "The Reason" another song he made were anthems. This beat the way he rapped everything this shit is perfect.

7. Cross - Sal Sal

While this song is about a dance, the beat and hook stayed in my head and gives me memories of this year 2007 & 2008 was big on dancing. The way they used horns in certain south beats had me hooked, melodies galore.

8.Skillz - 08 Rap Up

Not fair but SKILLZ RUNS THIS SHIT, i remember this rap up as I listen to it and damn. Hip Hop was trying to stay alive, and change at the same time. Skillz used to do end the year raps, and this one was on point fasho. Remember everything he was talking about this gotta be one of the best ones ever. NO LIE. 08 RAP UP.

9. Shawty Lo - They Know (remix)

MAN!! Shawty Lo on my favorite rapper list used to try to rap like em and all, this remix was huge. I was happy seeing the original they know on TV with a video just cause he was my favorite hood rapper but when the remix dropped damn. Jeezy, Luda everyone spazzed but WAYNE WENT CRAZY!! This was around the time I was coming around to wayne, hated wayne when he dropped 500 Degreez but this remix made me start fuckin w em. Made me love autotune, more than t-pain. Cant stop listening to the song im tryna stop it at plies verse but cant cause i know wayne finna spit. plies was HUGE too. I remember ppl was on wayne heel's for that "If u aint with it then u in the food chain" line.

10. DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ - Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It

This beat is smoothheer than smooth. I was fan of franchize since white tee, when this dropped i was hype as shit that fuckin beat. killin shit.

11 - JOELL ORTIZ - HIP HOP

Somehow, I hadn’t heard this record till yesterday and I can’t even begin to express the overwhelming regret that gripped me as the realisation of a life wasted sunk in… the hazy, bro ass times I should’ve had to this album instead of earnestly attempting to slog through the flabby, over-indulgent DOO)))M excesses of Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine (pre-Earth nonsense) and like… Ahab (nautically themed metal that isn’t Leviathan), so naturally I’ve spent the better part of today hating myself for not having heard this earlier. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Melvins, I just didn’t get around to it alright? More to the point, this album (released in '92) is pretty much perfect and stands at the foundation of what we now know as (drone-)doom, from the funereal, ten minute amplifier worship of opener ‘Hung Bunny’, through the mammoth Alice Cooper and Flipper covers and the characteristically Buzzofied  melodicrush of ‘With Teeth’... oh and for added omg factor, Joe Preston (aka bass on every worthwhile sludge/doom/drone/woman-repelling record ever) is totally on this album and his influence on the sound cannot be overstated. So yeah, after listening to Lysol once, I pretty much instantly elevated it to Dopesmoker/throne levels of shamanic stoner classixsixsix, which says a lot because my taste is basically impeccable. Okok, enough namedropping, you get the point probably.  Kids, learn from my mistakes, be cooler than me and listen to this nowwwwwww.

Although the name doesn't inspire much, Power Animal's 'congregation of positive vibes' is definitely worth a listen. Their sound ripples and pulses, with layered vox in the back rounding it out. Half of the tunes are remixes of the existing ones, but they're pretty sick. Lushlife remixed one, so be sure to check it out.

No Comment started out as a reaction to the growing presence of crossover hardcore/metal bands in the late 80s, playing ridiculously fast hardcore with an uncompromising nihilistic streak and helping define what we now know as powerviolence. Released in '92, the Downsided 7" stands as one of the most influential in hxc, and is repped even by the most meatheaded of chug-chug hardcore fans, for good reason. Only four of its eleven tracks pass the 30 second mark, testament to the punishing, brutish energy of the record, reaching levels of bleakness and despair rivaled only by like-minded cutters like Despise You and Apartment 213. For real y'all, listen to this if you have any interest at all in punk n hardcore or, like, die posing.

Religious Girls are a band I've been sleeping on for way too long. Released last year, their I Want to Believe EP somehow manages to combine near-anthemic, melodic gang type vocals and synths with polyrhythmic, blast beat heavy time signature shifts... like The Locust beating the shit out of WU LYF or something. 'DEAD DOG' is probably my favourite track but the whole thang is excellent, so get on these guys cuz they're like totally unique aaaand you can also totally download this for free on their Bandcamp.

Religious Girls -  I Want To Believe

When Idaho started up amid the 90's slowcore scene they were billed as a group but were pretty much always the brainchild of Jeff Martin, who came one step closer to permanently stealing my heart when I first heard The Lone Gunman, released in 2005 with all parts recorded by the man in question. While this record maintains the melancholy and emotional bb-ness of his previous works, it employs a more diverse range of influences and sounds, bringing in electronic components and just generally experimenting without concern for descriptive boundaries. Highlight 'You Flew' prominently features a tuba and 'U Got That Gunman Thang' comes weirdly close to a hip-hoppy vibe, but all in all the album is unified by a refined, languorous emotionality and nostalgia best captured by tracks like 'Kite' and 'Cherry Wine'. I suppose 'slowcore' doesn't really cut it at this point, but this comes highly recommended regardless of what to call it.

Alta are a post-hardcore band from Milwaukee, WI.  A homie of mine from the whitest place on earth, Iowa, booked a gig for them a while back and was adamant that it was one of the most energetic live shows he has ever seen.  Even listening to the record you can't help but get the sense that a lot of energy is being contained.  Really digging this lately, sounds like a scramz influenced victor! fix the sun.  Get to it:
