Rio and Kaoru are the twin children of Kaguya and Subaru. Rio's a lively ball of endless curiosity with golden retriever energy. He loves exploring,  playing harmless pranks, a connoisseur of cool sticks, is the number one tree climber, and is often found charging headfirst into every adventure with a huge toothy grin. Though a little absent-minded, and unable to sit still for long without his 'brain turning itchy,' he's a dependable big brother to Kaoru, and loves his family more than anything, even if he sometimes forgets that he doesn't get to be the center of attention all the time. Loves anything pineapple flavoured and wolves, and avoids books, green vegetables, and medicine whenever he can. Dreams of growing up strong to protect Azuma and his family. Kaoru is gentle, observant, and kind hearted. Always has their nose in a book, and likes arts and crafts. They're shy, avoid of concflict and loud noises, and afraid of being teased. They struggle with expressing their needs and receiving praise, but have a quiet determination when they get into a project, even giving a quiet happy cheer when finished. Kaoru takes an interest in learning archery from their father, and healing magic and dance from their mother. They love anything matcha flavoured, get starry-eyed whenever they see a particularly cool mechanism or cute frog. As they grow, they slowly come to realize they identify as a girl, and take the name Hotaru at the suggestion of her parents. Loves her family more than anything, and dreams of being a skilled artisan that can make things that help people one day.
